Re: Sprint's Treo Pro Tethering/Use as modem

This was my reply in another related thread:

I'm not sure what the deal is, but I had the 800w, and the internet sharing worked fine, but when I got the Treo Pro, all of a sudden I get the error code 67 and sprint tells me I need to pay for phone as a modem (wtf?). I have a sprint third party dealer plan, and either a) it's built into the plan and they can't tell or b) it wasn't supposed to work on the Treo 800w. No one can figure it out. But hey, thank God for wifirouter!

I tried to add phone as modem to my simply everything plan. Phone as modem will not work without it. They said it was not available for that plan. Got Wifi router with works great, and saved me the money for the tethering plan that I tried to get but they would not let me. Dumb move on Sprint's part cheaper move for me.

For Sprint Treo Pro users there is a new solution to enable ICS and you don't have to use wifirouter.

I found no problems with pdanet with my Treo Pro.. the same setup as it is on any winmo phone.. Edit the registry for the ICS hack. Install pdanet... connect via USB or BT...Works great for me. I don't have a Phone As Modem plan. I use it sparingly, maybe 10min each morning on the train... never been billed or anything for it.

Re: Sprint's Treo Pro Tethering/Use as modem

I have personally used WMWifiRouter on the Palm Pro and it works flawlessly. It does everything from 3g to Wifi. 3g to usb. 3g to Bluetooth PAN. wifi to usb. it also monitors the battery data, levels and temperatures and adjusts the programs features accordingly.

Phone as a modem IS a separate plan as Power Vision, however, with the help of a registry editor, you can change it so that in Internet Sharing you can select to either use the PAM or PV.

In registry editor browse to this location

HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings\

Find The ForceCellConnection Value, and delete the key entirely.

Start InternetSharing Application and select Power Vision. This will use the data plan that you already pay for.

I had been tethering on Power Vision just fine to my Macbook via bluetooth on 6.1, but went to a cooked 6.5, and despite using the same registry edits can now no longer get online for more than a few minutes before the bluetooth disconnects. Anyone have any ideas? I'm baffled.
