I've seen a lot of talk about being able to get a free upgrade from the 800w to the Treo Pro. Anyone with an 800w should give that a try. If it works, you'd have probably twice the resale value with the Treo Pro when it comes to buying a Pre.

I hope your 'free' upgrade is honest. Wouldn't want to contribute to Sprint's downfall...

Post sources or BS. :disgust:

Sprint is not known for having policies of giving free high-end smartphones to people just because a new one is out.

Were Touch users offered a free upgrade to the Diamond? I certainly don't recall that happening.

Sure everyone is always encouraged to call Sprint and get credits to their account but I highly, highly doubt they will just give a $549 phone to 800w users.

What is the incentive to Sprint if they have you already on a 2 year contract from the 800w? A six month extension is not worth $549 to them; not worth it for Palm either.

Luckily TreoCentral forum member elistone was kind enough to finally post some of those luscious details on this beaut. What is curious is that evidently it only has aGPS and not standalone-GPS (a contentious issue with 800w owners). Of course WMExperts will do a comparions of both devices as soon as we get out mitts on one to verify.
So without further ado...Sprint Treo Pro:
  • Robust battery life with an 1500 mAh li-lon battery and 5 hours of continuous talk time.
  • Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition (OS) providing a feature rich experience (with Enterprise SCMDM options)
  • 128MB program memory (DDR) and 256 non-volatile memory (175MB of user store)
  • A-GPS – for navigation and turn-by-turn directions - Autonomous & Simultaneous GPS allows points of interests searching and mapping from contacts.
  • Instant-on WiFi short-cut key - WPA/WPA2 certified
  • 2.0 Megapixel resolution Camera for still and video shots with BPP Basic Printing Profile
  • Price: $549 retail; $249 2-year contract
The Treo™ Pro by Palm® is a feature rich Windows Mobile 6.1 OS PDA which is a perfect balance of robust productivity and simplicity. Features include embedded WiFi with a dedicated short-cut key, A-GPS, EV-DO REV.A and a 2.0 mega pixel camera. This device has an updated stylish and slim form factor design. Data services run on Sprint’s Nationwide Mobile Broadband Network.
While nothing earth shattering, it should be a strong business messenger device for Sprint. Look for it on Sunday, the 25th this month.

Man, I wish I could pick that baby up next week.

Also, I do know that the pink instinct is in stock now (Sprint Ready Now Dealer)...But personally, I think the Pre is gonna rock a lot more than the Treo Pro...

I am going to skip the Pro and wait for the Pre. My 800w is working just fine and I don't need to spend more $$ on a device I plan on only keeping a few months.

I was going to get the wife the 800w soon, but I will wait and get her the Treo Pro. I was more excited about the Pre than she was. She is happy with her Centro, but isn't complaining about me getting her into WM.

Absolutely. I'm gonna do everything I can to get the Pre on day 1, unless it just gets horrible reviews. But I don't see how that can really happen right now.

If you *****ed enough to high end departments, yes. I've known numerous people who complained about the Touch/Mogul and got a Diamond/Pro for eaither free, or a $99 upgrade. Hell, I complained enough about my MotoQ (first one) and they gave me a Blackberry 8830 free, along with a permanent $50 credit to offset the blackberry plan.

In fact, if you go repair your Moguls now, you're probably going to get a Touch Pro in return.
