800w replacements backordered

So, I guess the 800w has been on backorder for quite some time. We have 30 of these phones in our office and they have been a major pain in the arse. We've replaced 12 of them in the last 3 months.

I'm worried about getting replacements to my users that don't have phones today. Sprint said they can't replace our phones with the PRO as the 800w is still available as a replacement (but backordered).

Do I have to wait for them to become back in stock? Do I just tell our two users that they don't get a phone.

This is a crappy situation. These phones are really making me look bad...

If you have 30 active lines on your account you can push this issue. Contact your DCS or your rep and tell them your situation. Tell them how unsatisfied you are with this issue and they will make amends.

Yea, I'm venting.

I still want to figure out how to get phones for these folks. If they are back ordered, seems like they should send the next available phone that is comperable (pro).

We did complain to our rep and they agreed to send us 7 PROs as replacements for our execs...so far so good. I'm so frusterated with the failure rates of the 800w. This situation is making me look like sh!t. I'm worried about what's going to happen after the 1 year manuf. warranty.

I don't want to purchase TEP to cover manuf. issues. Our users are pretty good about not breaking their phones, so insurance is a waste for us.

During a 1 year period with our HTC S620's and 700wx's, we only had to replace one phone that failed.

I've had my 800w the day after it was release. I have never had an issue with it I didn't create. As a matter of fact I've never had an issue with PDA or PPC except for the Treo 650 that kept reseting on me randomly. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Re: 800w replacements backordered

I havent seen any 800w's come in with manufacturer issues, Palm makes a decent product. As far as the issue at hand, they should replace it with the next comparable model only if the account has TEP or ESRP. Sprint has the 800w on Backorder but not Palm. You can always go the Manufacturer for manufacturer issues, its not Sprints fault the phone has issues, or wait until Sprint receives more in stock.

Re: 800w replacements backordered

Yea, I asked sprint what they'd do if we had TEP and the unit is backordered (like it is), and they said we'd have to wait for units to become available and the pro is not an option.

I know some people have had good success with the 800w, but we have not.

Re: 800w replacements backordered

Even though I got my 2nd replacement for the Treo 800w. I still love it. I tried the Treo Pro while waiting for the replacement and it sucks horribly. The program memory is the most important thing for any Windows Mobile device. The Treo Pro has less than the 800w. The keyboard is also smaller and sometimes I have difficulty with the 800 keyboard.

I am glad Sprint still offers replacements for Treo 800w. I have had problems with the phone but its mostly been stable for me. The fact that I can have Facebook, IE, WMWifiRouter and some other apps open and not know it is great :) Speedy.

I would be very surprised if you speakerphone doesn crackle when its on.
