Re: does anyone.... outlook

Same here! I don't actually use outlook express, I do use Google calendar, but I'd consider using Mozilla calendar and PIM. I don't really need the email end of things, as I primarily use web-based email.

Re: does anyone.... outlook

Outlook express is the "free" version included with Windows. Outlook has to be purchased separate from windows. (usually included with office i.e. word, excel, OUTLOOK).

So the short answer is, if you haven't installed it you probably don't have it.

Some webhosts will give you outlook for free if you sign up for an exchange account. I think 1&1 does for around $7/month.

I remember the days when you bought a PDA with windows they would include Outlook. I don't know what was on the Palm CD but the Mogul came with a trial for Outlook 2007.

Re: does anyone.... outlook

So, there's no other calendar program that you can sync with WM Outlook? What about any other apps? I really don't want to buy Outlook just for that....On my PC, I use Google Calendar, and while I know you can sync that with Desktop Outlook, I'd feel it was really redundant to buy Outlook just to make that bridge!

You might want to try the System Seven Consumer Edition by Seven. I don't know how the consumer edition works with calendar but it may be worth a try.

Here is a combination I have used that is free. Install Mozilla Thunderbird on your pc, install the Funambol Plugin for Thunderbird, and then install Funambol on your device. Everything is synchronized through the Funambol server.

Thats kind of a good solution, but you have to install a lot of stuff. Goosync will pretty much take care of all his needs and since Gmail is web based there's really no need to install all that on your pc.

But that is a really good option if you DO want to backup to your pc and don't want/can't afford Outlook.
