So my close buddy works for sprint and they made him the 800W advocate... He's never used windows mobile and kinda doesn't like it... they gave him an 800W but he's not convinced he wants hit... he asked me.. "if i give you this phone for a night, can you pimp it out for me?"

Absolutely.... ummm.. one little problem... THERE"S A TON OF STUFF THATS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH IT!!! I almost let him down.... until i thought i'd try this...

Here is my Slide theme for the 800W!!! And my god, it is sooooo much nicer on this phone than my touch!!! The resolution, transition, pretty much everything runs smoother on this device... the 800W is a BEAST! All pages animate in direction you slide them. To hide, slide that direction again.

There are no weather images showing because he has not activated the phone and weather panel wouldn't retrieve a forecast. If you wanna see what they look like before downloading, just look at my same theme for the touch.

The only issue is with WAD2, then END key doesn't turn the device screen off, so in the settings menu in my theme, i added a simple button that does so.

I hope you guys digg... i couldn't find anything really cool compatible with this phone, but future apps will be ridiculous, cuz like i said, this thing is a BEEEEAST!

wow, looks great now i want a 800 and i love my touch. ill wait to see what you can do with the diamond if you have plans. keep up the good work. 800 owners rejoice

Also when i installed the wisbardesktop, it said that it expires on the 30th of october?

I have to admit, this looks pretty sweet (I am keeping track of this app for when VZW gets the 800w.....followed very closely by ME getting the 800w LOL), my only question would be about customization...is it easy to change icons, colors, backgrounds...... (not that I would, I may love it all, just wondering)!!!!

Now....if A_C can get S2U2 going on the 800w, that would be a sweet blend of apps!!!!

P.S. Two other questions I just thought of....what weather app do we need, or can it use a few (EDIT...I just say WeatherPanel is used....bunus point!!!!)? Plus...what Contact Manager do we need, or is it part of the app? (also, can we customize the app to use other weather and contact apps?)

wad2 is still in beta and they release updates frequently. all u need to do is install the update, nothing else.

in wad2 Everything can b customized easily. after going into author mode, tap n hold on what u wanna change n select properties.

for the wallpaper, tap n hold select wallpaper.

weather: tap hold select settings then weather tab.

never mind i realized that i had accidentally copied the entire wisbar advance desktop folder instead of its contents into the program files wisbar advance

I have a mogul on a sero plan and will soon be adding a second line on a employee rate plan. I was wondering if any one could tell me the what new features that this custom rom will add. Like on sero you can not use phone as modem and with the new rom i can. What new features will this custom rom add to my new treo 800 or should i stay with htc. I am new to this and have received great info from this site so far. So if possible can anybody direct me in the right direction

well if youre talking about what the slide 800w theme will add in terms of rom then you must be mistaken. this is not a rom update for the 800w. its only a theme, it does not change how the hardware is programmed or anything of the sort but it does provide for a great ui that is pleasing to the eye

pull up the home(time) dock... go into author mode (tap n hold select author mode...

Tap n hold on clock, select properties... change time zone...

PLEASE tap n hold and get out of author mode before gesturing again...

lemme know what you think of the theme :D

start out by deleting the lakeridge folder out of the program files folder. soft reset.

The steps are fairly simple...

Install weather panel and wisbar.
put SYanni WAD2 on storage card.
Put Wisbar Advance Desktop in Programfiles>Lakeridge and let it overwrite all.
Then soft reset.

let the today screen load and then after 5 sec wisbar should load... if it doesn't after a little while, just go into programs and tap it once.

I have a question.

How'd you get rid of the "Carrier line"? The one that says SPRINT on the left and has the BT and GPS icons on it. I'd love to get that screen area back.

I love the program, btw. Very, very cool.

WAD is like a totally new page, it isn't actually the Today screen your looking at, so it isn't actually gone, your just not seeing the page the carrier page is on!!

syrguy is right, there is no getting out of this page unless you exit. You cant even get out with the end button. Like i said, unfortunately, i had to map an onscreen button to shut off the screen cuz the end button doesn't.
But the end button will turn it on when its off as normal.

i need to reset this back to default settings. i forgot to exit author mode and now my stuff is all over th eplace..

edit ok figured out how to move/get out of author mode

however, i'm having a lot of issues, i've had to reboot the phone about 10 times. contacts are being weird. every time i slide it open, then try to slide it shut, i get the windows error. same thing for home.

pretty sweet program. maybe i'll pick this up on the next update

i originally created this on the vogue. but i remade it for the 800.

BUT i think ths version of wad2 beta is buggy. the downward swipe doesnt work well... im pretty sure this theme will work well on the next release.

on another note, when i get my hands on my buddys 800w again, i will build this theme from the ground up from scratch again.

So far I haven't really had any problems with this. Quite nice I must say once you get everything set up to your likings and you figure out how to do all that. I am not using the screen to slide..couldn't get anything to happen when I tried so I just use my dpad to move pages and it works nicely. Just wanted to say thanks for what seems like endless possibilities.

ok i reinstalled the app. and im not going into author mode :P

nor will "ALl Contacts" open my contacts.

i also dont know how to input contacts into the favorites launcher...

when the contacts page is up, tap n hold anywhere on it, select author mode

tap n hold on ALL CONTACTS, tap scripts, highlight launch a program, hit edit, hit grey box with 3 dots, choose your contacts program... hit done, done

Tap n hold anywhere but all contacts and select new>speed dial... choose your contact... then tap on image properties, then check the box and set the dimensions to be 40 and 40
hit done, done.

Then tap n hold on the pic, select move and move it to desired location.

after you are done with all your contacts, tap n hold above the home icon and select author mode to uncheck it, then you can gesture away.

i just put somethin togther from the ground up on a 800w n ill release it by tomorrow night. it shouldnt b buggy cuz its ALL 800w, no conversions. :)

Holyyyy Cowww.... I must say After a couple deep breaths and learning how to READ Instructions again ( DOH )... It work beuatifully. Thank you for all the research for your fellow sprint friend. I also am a sprint advocate for this phone.

hello,
fyi, i'm completely new to PDA customization.

installed everything, but i got this message after soft-resetting:
"the file 'desktopapp' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found........."

also, it said that something expired on Aug. 30th... i'm assuming that was the wad2 beta? where would I find/purchase the nonbeta version of that?

i'm not too sure about the desktopapp error... i'd say uninstall everything and start from scratch, just make sure to follow the directions to the T... i detailed them pretty well i believe
