Confirmed

Hello.

I work as a manager in a small retail electronics shop that resells Sprint as one of our wireless carriers. We had a surprise visit this afternoon from our West area Palm Rep, as well as the Sanyo Rep. I asked the Palm guy about the new Treo, and HE HAD ONE ON HIM!!!! He confirmed that it is coming out THIS SUNDAY, July 13th. It will be running WinMo 6.1, and has A-GPS, EVDO-REVa, a Wi-fi button (not switch), and the traditional ringer off switch. It is a micro USB connection, and is a lot thinner than the old Treo 750 that I use to lug around. It will be released on Sprint EXCLUSIVELY. The QWERTY is like the Treo 750, and the directional keys and Send/End keys are similar to the Centro.

Also, I know it does not really apply, but the Sanyo Rep had the new upgrade to the Katana DLX, which is the Katana Eclipse. Sweet looking phone if you have a need for a fashion piece as well. This phone will be out in August.

Hope this helps. I know I can't wait til Sunday!

Re: Confirmed

I'll say this much, if Sprint were like GSM (where you can Swap phones on the fly) I would get the new Palm without a second thought.

Re: Confirmed

God, I thought I was the only other person that hates his Mogul. It is so flaky and unstable. I'm on my third because the buttons just stop working after a few months without pushing really hard on them. Randomly, the buttons stop responding unless you hold them down for a while. The thing is rebooted every night with SBP Backup but I still have to soft reset it almost every day.

My wife's Treo 700wx works like a freakin pro. It never crashes, never has had a hardware problem. It "just works." That is what I'm looking for. 800w here I come.

Re: Confirmed

I just got off the phone with Account Services and was told that the Palm Treo 800W is SUPPOSED to be available on Sunday. The best news is that I did not think I was eligible for the discounts, I am eligible for full discounts! WOO HOO! I will be ordering mine on Sunday.

I went from a 700wx to a Mogul because Slingplayer was so tiny on the Treo. Three months later I paid full price for a Touch because the Mogul was such trash. I've never before owned a phone so bad in so many ways. The Touch has been ok but I really miss the Treo. If this new one does better with Slingplayer than the old one, I'm there.

maybe that's why it takes so long for them to be released.
