The ULTIMATE "noob" question lol

long time lurker but my Treo 700wx is in the mail and on its way to my loving hands so i figured i should go head and register and join the community..

introductions aside.. this might be considered a dumb question but eh..

basically im bout go shopping for my Treo tommorow and after paying for the phone at semi retail price and also paying bills im a tad bit short on cash until the next paycheck.. but i want the full Treo customization expierience so my ultimate question isssss...

do i absolutely NEED to purchase a memory card for my phone, is that the only way to get programs on my phone? emulators? etc? or can a memory card wait for a week or so.. i could pick up a 1gb but dont wanna just get that then turn around and pick up a 4gb later waste of money
