Pre Reset on its Own

I have my Pre sitting on my touchstone at work when it just shut off and restarted on its own. I checked it and there were no updates that I could see that were done. Cards I had open were email, messaging, and AP. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hasn't happened on my Pre yet. Are both of you experiencing this with the phone on the touchstone charger or off the charger?

Mine is sometimes when I close the phone or just move it the wrong way. Nothing to do with the charger for me.

This has only happened to me once that I have noticed and it was on the Touchstone.

Your problem is a loose battery. A temporary fix is to wedge some a piece of paper between the battery and the devices by the flap used to pull the battery out. The other is to take it to a Sprint store and let them know the issue. They have been replacing batteries for this issue.

I'm afraid of being charged to fix it, I don't have $$ for it yet.

That happened to me, but only once. It was within the first couple of weeks when I bought it, and it reset itself after about 5 minutes on the Touchstone. I took it to Sprint, and after holding onto it for a couple of hours, they couldn't replicate it. It hasn't happened to me since. Really strange.

I don't think they will charge for this. It is a known issue with some Pres shipping with batteries that were slightly smaller causing this issue. Go to a corp store and find out for sure.

Thanks, I will. So long as its only the battery, I also wasn't in a hurry to buy another skin to go over the Pre, either.

yeah, this happened on my girlfriends pre constantly not to mention the lower part of the screen where you touch to add contacts was non responsive! but the sprint store did the right thing and gave her a new one which so far hasnt shown any signs of the previous issues.

Went to the store today and they are ordering a replacement. Hope its not a re-furbished unit. They said they didn't know whether it will be or not. I also didn't mention to you all that there's been a dead pixel the whole time, wasn't a biggie though.

What kind of skin are you using Invisible shield or etc...? If it has a lifetime warranty they will replace it with a new one...Just remove it and apply it to a sheet of paper of something and take it to dealer etc...And they will exchange it for new one, just pay for installation...

ps.no power cycling here...

Thanks, I didn't know. That's exactly what I'll do.

Re: Pre Reset on its Own

It did it again this morning. I picked up my Pre from the Touchstone and as I was getting ready to switch to the launcher it locked up. I was not able to do anything with it so I was about to flip it over to remove the battery cover when the frozen screen went to the Palm startup screen. Seems to be working fine since then. I also had already done the WebOS 1.1 update on 7/23.
