Update: for $100 the warranty company will send a replacement. This will be interesting.

Final chapter: I got my new $100 Pre replacement yesterday. No lie, the Hex ESN for the replacement was not in Sprint's system. I called customer service. After being treated like a criminal for 20 minutes, I asked to speak to a supervisor. the CSR said no supervisor was available. So they have 500, 1000 CSR's and no supervisor? I get their problem. I called back and an astute CSR read my record and transferred me to tech support. I got it activated. This all took 1 1/2 hours. the Pre goes back today and I move my 6 personal numbers that cost me $5,000 a year somewhere else. Bummer, I really wanted a TP 2 if it ever gets released. Oh yeah, I run IT for a company that provides 500 plus phones for sales staff that go off contract in 2012.

Mods, I know this is sort of off topic. Sorry if I crossed the line.

Not sure if you are still having the issue with the earpiece and the mic, but I offer this anecdote: A few days ago I thought that my mic and earpiece had gone out as shortly after using my Pre as an MP3 player. Turns out that when I removed the headphones, the prongs inside the headphone jack did not fully release so it registered that the headphones were still plugged in, though to me it just seemed like the mic and earpiece had failed. After rapidly sliding the headphones in and out of the jack, it loosened the mechanism and I no longer have this problem when disconnecting the headphones.

Ask for an Advanced Replacement not a replacment through the insurance.

Anyone outside the 30 days will have to go to the store to get it replaced.. The reps are not suppose to replace the device over the phone

Thats not true. Tech and Advanced Tech should be able to do an Advanced Exchange if you are unable to make it to a store for an AE.

I once adopted a dog. They told me it was a bad dog, but she had turned a new leaf. I took the dog home and she bit my baby. Who's fault is that? Mine or the place I adopted from. They told me the truth right? Or did they lie? Calling and annoying people because you bought a phone with ****ty reviews, from a company with a history of crap hardware is not Sprint's fault. You had thirty days, now you have a warranty. That is Sprints and Palms responsibility.
