SlingPlayer and Pre
 

My wife got her Pre two days ago and so far, I like it, not love it. The lack of tethering is a big minus to me. But if SlingPlayer works using the Classic app, it may sway me.
I am at work now so I can't test it. Does anyone know if SlingPlayer for Palm will work on the Pre (using Classic of course).
If no one knows, I will post my results here when I try it.

If I'm not mistaken there is an emulator that will allow the Pre to play programs from other palm os'

Yes, the emulator is called "Classic" and a lot of apps run fine, but I get an error when trying to run SlingPlayer: "Certain files are not properly installed or missing. Please reinstall SlingPlayer Mobile".
I will mess with it and report back tomorrow. If anyone has any luck please post.

Wow.. that emulator looks great... saw Kinoma icon on a pre/emulator vid on youtube.. that'll tide me over till the webos version comes out. Also be fun to try all those game emulators.. nes/snes/sega ...looks to be loads of palm programs over the last 10 years that could be useful.

Just a word of caution: MotionApps has been unresponsive to several requests from us asking if Classic is actually complete enough support Kinoma Player 4 EX.

I provided them with several copies of Kinoma Player 4 EX for testing a few months ago, so it's disappointing that they seem to have gone dark.

I can now get SlingPlayer up and running using Classic. I can control my STB thru the app, but no pic or video. It looks like a codec issue. I will keep trying, but keep in mind, it's my wife's Pre so my time with it is limited!!
FWIW, I called Sling support today and they said they are working on SlingPlayer for webOS and it will be released "soon".

For the life of me I cannot find the article now, but I did read somewhere that a SlingPlayer WebOS app was in the works.
