Re: how do you change message tone for sms???

The custom alert tones WILL be included in a future update not in the app store. Personally I would just deal with the alert tone the way it is for now instead of rooting or homebrew app fix. It's not worth the trouble and it's still just a crude "fix". Be patient, Palm is fully aware of the Pre's deficiencies and will be rolling out software updates. In about 3 to 6 months, we will be enjoying many new features on our Pre's.

I agree 100% with your post. I'm all about sms alerts and everything else. But one thing at the top of list is directly calling somebody from sms page. I would like the option to just call that person when I decide to just say what I got say...

Re: how do you change message tone for sms???

Yes I agree that would be a great feature to add to Palm's "To Do" list. That would be like super nice to incorporate the ability to call the person or number directly from the sms/mms message / message list. I hope Palm has it's ears open and reading all our ideas and requests.

Re: how do you change message tone for sms???

If you tap on the name while in the convo with the person, it takes you to their contact card, and you can tap on the number to call from there. While it's not exactly calling directly, it's a two tap process (or three if you're not in a convo), and it brings up the contact card almost instantly.
