Re: Official Palm Pre User Review Thread
Even given the hardware problems that I had... I had to mull it over for a while before I finally took it back. I wasn't sure if I wanted to give it up. Ultimately, I decided I couldn't settle for the inferior quality of the hardware after never having hardware problems with a phone for years (Since a Blackjack, back in the day).

You can delete them pretty quickly by swiping the conversations off the screen to get rid of them a conversation at a time.

Re: Official Palm Pre User Review Thread
as good as the pre is, i'm getting a little bored with it too since the 3rd party app scene is so bad at this moment. i went back to my diamond just to play around with it but after using the pre, i realized how superior the pre's touchscreen is. it was a bit frustrating to use the diamond again, so looks like i'll be holding on to the pre. but that touch pro2 looks enticing enough to bring me back to WM because of the hardware alone.

Re: Official Palm Pre User Review Thread
Thought I'd post some fresh impressions from a non Pre owner since they've made a few updates now.
Went back to the sprint store today and played with a Pre running 1.1 for about an hour. The demo phone had seen a lot of abuse but was holding up really well. Definitely some "oreo" effect with the phone closed, but I found it minimal and totally tolerable (for me at least). Also noticed some blochiness on the bottom of the display. Again, very hard to notice and didn't bother me. I found the phone to be much snappier than I remember (played with it on launch day before). Apps were loading faster than before, and most menus seemed to scroll a little smoother. Still really like the whole cards setup for multitasking. I opened up youtube, starting playing a trailer for the latest star trek movie (found the playback quality to be quite good), backed out (with it auto pausing) and starting surfing PPCgeeks, changing settings and looking at photos without much of a noticable slowdown. One thing I ended up getting really aggravated with though was backing up within an app or "card". I flat out couldn't figure out how to do it. Once I got home I read up and it all made sense. Just needed to do a half swipe back in the gesture area. Duh. Checked out the app store, downloaded Tweed and found it similar to Twikini on WM though with considerably more polish. That's the thing that stands out so much to me with this phone vs. WM. Menus in apps have a consistent look, feel and polish. Apps don't feel half backed like most WM apps I try. It just feels like a breath of fresh air in that regard. Still on the fence on this phone, but if the HTC Hero continues to look like it's gonna be slow (which will be likely since it's running old hardware, damn you HTC) I'll likely be jumping ship to WebOS and the Pre.

Re: Official Palm Pre User Review Thread
I have had my Pre for about a week now and love it. Coming from a Touch Diamond, I find the pre to be fast and more polished. I,ve always felt WM would be my favorite, but now Palm has really stepped up. Even with different roms flashed on the Touch Diamond, the pre blows it away. As far as comparing to the iPhone, the Pre will become a great compeditor. The Pre has a keyboard, removable battery, Touchstone and tethering (with homebrew app), so it is going to quickly overtake all but the iPhone (and even then, shake it up a bit). Just an amazing little phone.
