I bought one the first day by accident its a funny story. I got off work at 5 am that day, didnt want to wait till 8. Got up at 1 called my local sprint store but of course they were sold out already, So I went to play with the demo and was blown away. I overheard a couple next to me talking to a rep. He said they had 20 left about 10 miles away so he put 2 on hold for the, Thats when I butted in and secured mine!!! got it within a minute of walking to the store just to play with the demo. Am I lucky or what?

I bought one for my wife on Saturday. Her Instinct went crazy and spazed out. I've played with it for about 30 minutes and like it. It is very easy to get up to speed. I need to spend more time to find its short comings, but so far no complaints.

Re: Who bought a Pre today?

I was another lucky one to snatch up a Pre. I do love it, especially that it is web-based and everything gets synced automatically. I just expected some simple commands to be similar to that of a Windows based phone (I previously had the Mogul). Here are my gripes:

1. There are no arrow keys so when texting or emailing it is a bit cumbersome to do simple edits.

2. When emailing/texting there is no word completion. There is also very few words that it will correct.

3. Copy (Cut) and Paste is a bit awkward. You also can't take a calendar entry and copy the whole entry to a new date. (Someone please tell me if you have figured it out).

4. The camera takes great pictures, but you can't change any features other than whether you want the flash on or off.

As for number one the best thing to do is Hold the shift key and you can move the curser left to right by swiping left to right on the screen.

Thanks for the tip, but say you just left out a letter of a word... there is no easy way to get your cursor where you want it to insert the missing letter. You can tap in the area of the word and hope that the cursor ends up where you want it, but it is either a hit or miss.

Ooops I got orange and shift mixed up. You want to hold the orange button to move just the cursor. Shift is for highlighting to cut and paste.

I just was able to walk into my sprint store today and pick up 2 touchstones. They had 3 in stock, and it looks like a guy in front of me was walking out with a brand new Pre.

Re: Who bought a Pre today?

nicandalf,

You'll find alot of helpful videos in the help section. Like did you know you can ignore a call from the lock screen? On the screen all you can do is answer the call, but to ignore you just tap the power button twice. This is only on the lock screen and not the screen you get while you're actually on the phone. That screen actually has an ignore button on screen.

I did go through a few of the videos, but haven't had much time to REALLY play with my phone... I'm hoping this weekend. You have been very helpful, thanks again!

Re: Who bought a Pre today?

I bought one and although its easy to harp on the small issues with the phone, I love this phone and know I will be keeping it for awhile. I do have to say it does make you appreciate the minor details of the MightyRom I had for my Diamond. I know in time custom ROMS will be available and I cant wait so for now Ill deal with my little issues, but overall great phone.

So far I love my Pre but like anything there are things I'd like to see. Mainly for me so far is a speed dial panel/ page.

Re: Who bought a Pre today?

I would actually like to see the dialer find names like the winmo dialer. It's easier than opening the keyboard.

i bought one on the 6th

i waited @ best buy from 5am to 10am, and it turned out they only received 2. it was all good though because i was first in line.

around 8am more people started showing up, sucked to be them im sure.

but the Pre is an amazing phone, and i finally retired my Apache.

today i was playing with my apache and damn does windows mobile seem old and outdated (im also running wm6.5.)

im very happy with the Pre

Get upgraded to the new EPRP plans. They're not as cheap as SERO, but they're cheaper than Sprint's lower than everybody else plans.

But it is a Palm Device, and the Pre is a subsection of the Palm device section.

Re: Who bought a Pre today?

Don't have one, but I'd like to get one in a month or two. Finding out a day before it's release that it doesn't have any kind of voice dial feature was a deal breaker for me. Updates to follow for sure, but with Sprint who knows how long that will take.

Why wouldnt there be? In order to stay alive in the world today you have to adapt(ask circuit city, or gm) to the changing times. You should see how bustling the iPhone section of the forum is...
