Media Sync reverts to Just Charge.
 

Ok, I plug in the Pre with OEM cable and select Media Sync. Nothing happens in iTunes. I try USB Mode. Window opens showing the Pre's contents. Five seconds later, it just closes on its own and the Pre shows Just Charge mode. I've tried different cables and different usb ports. Any ideas???

iTunes is probably the issue. In iTunes turn off Automatically Sync Songs. I stopped using iTunes because I just couldn't get to liking it so I started using Windows Media Player. To use media player choose USB instead of media sync.

pre is not compatible with itunes anymore... use media jukebox or media monkey

Media Sync, WMP, jukebox, media monkey all those syncers can only handle iTunes non-DRM .m4a music but the DRM-protected .m4p tracks.

If you want to transfer your whole iTunes library (including the DRM'ed .m4v video movie), a 3rd party DRM removal software and a USB cable are enough by draging & dropping, what you think?

But the funny thing is, it was working fine. I've not made any changes. No updates.

As long as you are not using a more recent version of than v 9.0.1.8 you should be fine. Are you able to use it as a USB driver?

Do you know what subversion? You can click on Help then about iTunes. The version will be listed in the scrolling section.

That version should work since it's the same one I've used. I say it has to be settings since I had this same issue and resolved it by changing the auto sync setting. I'm out of ideas at this point.
