Looking for workaround on Palm Pre wireless server sync function

Anyone else have an issue with the inherent lack of privacy in being forced to sync their Palm Pre with an online server? Has anyone figured out a viable workaround so that the Palm Pre phone data only syncs with a laptop or desktop (using a 3rd party app.) and not with any of the default servers (Yahoo, Google or Palm)?

You're sort of SOL, there's no way to do anything on the Pre without having a Palm profile. You can't even update the phone without a Palm profile.

Yeah, one of the selling points of the Pre was all the cloud service that it provides and the way that it backups and stores some info.

You can turn off some features like data collecting and the automatic backup....but really, that defeats the purpose of Synergy features.

Besides, my expectation of privacy in the digital age is about zero.
