I usually use Package Creator. It works the best for me but doesn't always produce good OEMs. Another place to look for OEMs is PPCKitchen.org.

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

ok I'm at this part:
Rename your ROM and SYS folders.

Copy the xip.bin from the new ROM folder and paste it into the kitchen base folder.

Open shell.cmd in kitchen and type this exactly how you see:

osnbtool -c os.nb 1 xip.bin
but I keep getting an error "cannot open the source uncompress file"

any 1 have any idea what I'm doing wrong.
EDIT.... Figured it out

BTW Bwolf, thanks for info on package creator seems to work great so far.

Thanks for sharing everything Adrynalyne! I'm thinking about trying this cooking thing. I tried to read everything I could, but I may have missed a few things. When you say:

Isn't that what all the cooked ROMS are doing? Using your cooked rom and changing them?

Also, to update your kitchen, do the new version ROM and SYS folders need to be moved into your kitchen folder? Or does the xip.BIN overwrite everything in the original?

CF03 kitchen is updated. Sorry, the OEM has not been trimmed, and my tweaks have not been added.

I want to start ROM Cooking and I'm glad you posted a stock ROM, I was just wondering if there were any guides or anything of how to put WM 6.5 on it. I'm not a cook so I don't have my own 6.5, and I want to use a fresh 6.5 so that I can add/remove stuff myself. If not then oh well I'll just stick with downloading ROMs.

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready CC20 and CF03

6.5 is a learn as you go thing, but it acts mostly the same when cooking. Check out the i900 guides. Most should apply to the i910, just ignore the extraction parts, as I have done it for you.

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready CC20 and CF03

I got the 21232 to 23004 and created a NEWROM.bin. So now w/ the CF03 kitchen, I changed the ROM folder w/ the one provided. then followed the 23004 update from the "Copy the xip.bin from the new ROM ..." and I did get the os.nb.NEW, but the bin I built, would not load past your "nucular orbs" in the boot up. ??? Did I miss somthing? Thanks

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready CC20 and CF03

Ok, so you should have taken the SYS from the 23004.7z provided before and put it in your 6.5 kitchen. THen you should have taken the OEM folder from the CF03 kitchen, and put it in your 6.5 kitchen. Then you should have replaced the ROM folder with the new one for CF03/6.5 into your kithcen. Then, you need to take the os.nb from the CF03 kitchen and put it into your 6.5 kitchen.

Then you rebase the os.nb by copying the xip.bin from the ROM folder into the base of the kitchen, running shell.cmd with the command osnbtool.exe -c os.nb 1 xip.bin.

I know, confusing. Future kitchens won't have this problem. I just didnt have time to upload a 6.5 specific kitchen.

spinwizard 07-19-2009 04:35 PM

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready CC20 and CF03

I did all that, and it created the NewROM.bin. So I have a working CF03 Kitchen. When I packaged the SmartReader for your ROMs, I kept getting errors in the BuildOS. I thought that may be why you didn't put it in the bin to begin with.
I've been flip floping between yours andf Bgills. Both great work, and I want features of both. Thats why I want to cook. Thanks

The base of the kitchen. It will be called NewROM.bin.

Woo Hoo!!!! Flashed my first working CF03 based 6.1 M2D rom. Thank you so much to AD & everyone in this thread. You've all asked and answered so many questions I would've had. Now trying to update my kitchen to 6.5....looks confusing.

I am having an error while building my rom using CF03 and adding on 6.5. It says

The file "temp\dump\settupdll.dll" already exists. When trying to build it.

That means you are trying to install two of the same files. In BuildOS look at the bottom of the screen when the error pops up. That will tell you the location of the second file. You will need to find the location on your own.

You either need to remove one of these files or rename it and use initflashfiles.txt to move the file to the needed location.

It's in OEM\OEMApps

I checked, and it isn't there... Not even one...

While it was building, I deleted the "duplicate" file. I hope this work...

Do you think it is safe to flash to this? Or will I add a brick to my collection...

The file is there or it would not be giving you the error. You will need to look for it carefully. As you have found out removing files can be detrimental.

I have been lurking on here for about 3 days and I have to say reading all of this was actually the hardest thing I have ever done...I flashed my 6.1 ROM this morning and I am loving it. Just getting to the um 6.5 is giving me issues...I guess more reading.

Thank you to Adrynalyne for answering the questions I had.

I did a full search and did not find it. As a side thing, once I built it, other than receiving a lot of errors, it worked. It just doesn't seem to look like 6.5... It looks like the 6.1...

That's because you have issues. Something you removed that you should not have. A theme that is not made for 6.5 something like that. Picture will help see what is going on.

I had trouble finding setupdll as well. I'm using vista and had to first change explorer to show hidden/protected files and then use advanced search options to show hidden/system files and then it came up. Hope this helps.

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready CC20 and CF03

First of all, thanks everyone who made this kitchen possible.

I followed first post and made 6.5 kitchen with 23004 build.
I didn't remove anything just added some oems that i wanted and rom created successfully.

When phone turned on I have regular start menu like 6.1 not 6.5. Any ideas?

Also in programs and setting any icon that is highlighted looks like its been overlaid by other icon and it's changing as you select different icons.
Anybody know where this is coming from?

Thanks.

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready CC20 and CF03

Its a change made to gwes.exe that doesnt work so nicely with some apps.

The normal start menu comes from the large display, it can be disabled in start, settings, system.

Im uploading another kitchen when I go to bed tonight, it will work a lot better.

Replace the OEM folder with what? I just used the one that was included with the kitchen I figured it would be ok if I just made a base rom. Or do I have to replace the oem folder?
So should I just take the OEM folder from my current working 6.5 ROM and paste it into this new CF03 Kitchen?
