don't get me wrong, but unless you have the blackberry they have the door for, or an iphone with a protective case (extra bulk), I don't see this being usefull, YET.

I still want to see a user pic with charge amps showing.

YES, the informercials are gay as they have people freaking out (In Awe) about it having no wires.

At the moment, its proving the beginning of the end of electrical cords. No longer are we going to have to watch TV, play video games, or charge our devices with AC adapters. Instead, they will all have built in power adapters, which will receive to a direct power connection thats inside your wall's studs or attached to it. Less ugly cosmetic views, and FINALLY our rooms can look like in Star Trek where nothing needs cables.

This was only announced at CES a year ago. Give it another 5 years and it will be much more mainstream. This is very fast compared to other CES acclaims that went down the drain

Remember, baby steps to achieve great innovation (like never plugging in again, and having a house that keeps everything charged)

now, i have NO problem with the power mat, infact I like it. Its only a little power adapter which you can put in your pocket. Plug it in to the adpater as needed. This totally beats relying on a wire IMO. 100$ is very pricey, once it comes down to the 60-70 range i'll consider it, since its still (in this early stage) a glorified power station for USB devices, which rather hiding the cables replaces them.

i dont think powermat supports any windows phones at the moment... just iphone, blackberry, nintendo ds. unless you're talking about the dongle that u still have to plug into the phone each time you want to charge, which i don't consider wireless charging since there's still a damn wire.

so you're talking about the dumb attachment? that's the worst part of powermat imo. the wireless backs they have for the iphone/blackberry that resemble what the palm pre has are awesome, but why would anyone want to use that little dongle (that you have to still plug into your phone) in order to use power mat? i don't get it, you're still plugging it into something... why not just use the regular charger.

If you are wanting true wireless charging, they are developing a system that charges through wifi. Look for the thread over at xda.

That was an april fool's joke. It's impossible to transfer electrical energy over a 802.11 spectrum, it isnt designed for that, nor would it cope in range, nor would it give a decent amount compared to the amount lost.

Neat device, depends on who's model becomes a standard (I'm sure there are a lot of 3rd party companies working on these type of devices).

It would only be worth investing in one of these when all devices have the feature built in on phones, game systems, etc. Adding a $40 addon to each device and $100 for the base unit...Hmmm...another power strip ($7-15) and another cord ($3-15) for your device.... Guess what one will win ? Cords can almost always be hidden...

Again, neat device..

actually it does work!!! but i prefer to charge my phone via bluetooth, paperclips and the static electricity from my 3 year olds socks...
