Motorola shows off its first Google Android phone
Struggling handset maker Motorola has unveiled its first phone using Google's Android operating system. The Motorola Click and other Android-based handsets Motorola Inc. plans to release could be the key to reviving its handset division, which hasn't produced a hit since the wildly popular Razr phone in 2005. Google Inc. encourages manufacturers to use Android for free. Smart phones based on it could rival Apple Inc.'s iPhone and Research in Motion's BlackBerry. The Click was unveiled Thursday during a mobile Internet conference in San Francisco. It will be available through T-Mobile in time for the holidays. Motorola plans to unveil a second handset in the coming weeks that will also be available for the holidays.
