Well, we'll revise previous totally crazy, off-the-wall prediction: we think "Pink" is the codename for a new consumer-focused version of Windows Mobile that integrates Zune services, running not only on a touchscreen Zune HD, but on several third-party phones. Are we crazy? Yes, absolutely

According to this source it will have a:

3.5 inch or larger screen (multitouch)
ARM v6+ and OpenGL ES 2.0 compatible graphics hardware
256 RAM
1GB or more Storage
3MP Camera
Wi-Fi
Bluetooth
GPS
Accelerometer
Compass
and OMG, a 3.5mm jack! YES!

specs are on par with most phones in the wild now
but the unique thing is windows mobile 7 that is very very unique. on that alone I will keep a lookout for this device...

i just also realized that winmo 6.5 came from the zune's interface, with the selections that scroll.

I may be reading into this incorrectly, but I see "Pink" not as any hardware or software but rather specification requirements for any handset manufacturer that wants "Pink" on their handset. The HTC Superstar is the only device we know of that will come anywhere near these specs; as for the image of the Superstar, I believe it will be either the Firestone or Whitestone on HTC's 2009 roadmap. Still, if WM7 is not scheduled for release until a year from now, MS's June-Zune announcement will only be cloud-like in nature, and we'll still be holding out a very long time for the substance.

However, this does answer my question: You will not be able to download WM7 onto any current device. I'm sure xda-devs will have something to say about that, but no official sites or carriers will offer it. It clearly needs a certain set of specs to make it work and legacy devices just won't cut it.

IMO, the Superstar and Star are virtually the same device; one with Tegra and one with Snapdragon, one for GSM and the other, possibly, for CDMA, though that's a longshot. I don't see them as two different devices that most people can shop between but rather the only option depending on your carrier at the time of their release. Again, I'm only going by the pictures I've seen, if, in fact, they are the Firestone and Whitestone. I feel those devices are too similar in specs and appearances to be anything but the Superstar and Star.
