LG just committed to making and releasing 50 WM phones in the next 3 years; HP just re-committed itself to releasing numerous WM6.5 devices; Asus is releasing new devices including one with Garmin; Acer has some (admittedly crappy) ones coming out; Toshiba has that huge-screen/super thin TG on the way; iMate is still around; eten is still releasing, Sony will have an X2 (not by HTC this time, natch); Motorola as mentioned above, and Pantech has the duo...

I could probably think of a few more... but that's 11 other companies who still make WM devices.

I dont think you understood the news so i am going to give an example....SonyEricsson Xperia1 is made by HTC although is SonyEricsson brand phone and many others like that...so in addition to all the models HTC has many more with other brands are also made by HTC...got it?

HP Doesn't build theirs - they re-brand from an OEM. Care to guess which one?

(I work for HP - they got rid of their in-house Jornada products group in 2002. Then they got rid of Compaq's ipaq group in 2003-4, keeping only the brand name.)

So yeah, I'm pretty sure HTC makes most of the actual product out there.

If I had to bet, it'd be Quanta for some devices and for HP's latest, it was OKWARP/Inventec, not HTC. Perhaps you can provide some evidence that it is HTC--because I found none. There's certainly nothing in HP's lineup that even looks remotely like their designs (far too hideous to be HTC).

Well, that's all well and good except I wasn't debating the 80% number, so this statement is not relevant.

What I was responding to was this comment that you made:

I then listed 10 other companies who are still making non-HTC WM devices, which is an accurate statement and corrects yours.

That is LG, HP/Inventec, Asus, eten, iMate, Motorola, Acer, Sony, Pantech, Samsung and Toshiba are left--that's the other 20%.

Youy know this is never going to happen. I can't remember if it was on Pocketnow, or WM Experts, but the rational behind not putting in a 3.5mm jack is twofold: Cost and complications in adding more complexity to the build.
