So what does this mean in plain english to a newb? I don't think it means i could use the GPS on my xv6700 then, I couldn't get that lucky right?

No, there is no GPS chip in the 6700. The 6700 is older than dirt...

I'm not so sure this is true... I remember when I had mine, there was a tool you could use that would read certain info from the GPS... but nobody ever figured out how to use it for more than 911.

also, the leaked "official" 6.1 update is out for Verizon Touch. Meaning its so safe, even I just did it tonight . It's an exe file so no unlocking or flashing. Just run it, let it reboot and you have 6.1 with Rev A. Then install another little .cab and you have working GPS. Took me about 20 minutes to do it tonight. Went from 200kbs to over 600kbs
