Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
Got this news from a family member who is a sprint employee who heads new device delivery and whatnot. Not really sure what the phone is, just asked about new HTC phones and she said that was coming in 3rd Q of 09.

Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium

Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium

|
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium

Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
Nah, it only has a so-so on-screen keyboard. Still where the hell are my Tegra phones?! :D I'm ready for something that will blow all of these out of the water. This is just a Diamond with a bigger screen.

Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
3rd quarter of 09? That is way too long IMO. This is a cool phone but it's not enough to capture the kind of market share Sprint really needs. With the Mobile World Congress coming up in February, I hope to see more than just another incremental update to the Diamond. I want to see something as game-changing as the iPhone was a year or two ago.
|
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
Well it will already work as far as the phone feature goes. I would imagine it would also connect to data, just not sure at what speeds.
|
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
i thought the htc name of the HD is HTC Blackstone (aka the monolith)??
|
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
Yeah it sounds as if the Rhodium is a device in development that is a sort of Touch HD Pro (keyboard version of Touch HD).
|
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
so a touch HD with keyboard? It will probably be 450 bucks with a new account, and your first born for existing customers.
|
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
........man.......slide out keyboard.....yea......they just shot that idea down for me. I have the VOGUE, had the diamond, and am TRYING TO SELL MY TOUCH PRO....looks like i will have to import the HD and use it on T-mobile, if this is true.

Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
not to sound like a hater...but i and i think a lot of users on here dont really care about the iphone. maybe good for sales and better stuff down the line tho. none the less thanks for the info!

Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
read some where (forgot where :( ) that the htc max 4g is coming to sprint somewhere near spring time 09. first US pho and carrier ne to be using 4g.
|
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
NO NO NO!!! they better release a "diamond version" and "touch pro version", meaning a flat non-keyboard HD and an HD with keyboard.
the phones already big enough, i dont need another inch of thickness for a keyboard that i personally dont use. |

Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
You guys should have had a Siemens SX-66, now that was a brick of a phone. In fact add the aluminum case with swingout door and I felt like I was holding a brick with a door (that loved to hit you in the face).
HD + Keyboard, if its under a million bucks I'd replace my Q9C most likely. I do admit a non-slider is easier for one handed (ahem driving) operation, but I don't like touch-only devices (ala Touch, iPhone etc). |

hey let's all hold our breathe see what happens first....

he was referencing the term "HD Pro" in the blog post that was linked to. The blog post calls a new phone the "HD Pro" (aka HTC Rhodium) in the context that the writer likes phones with physical keyboards. And considering HTC recent phone lineups. I assume an "HD Pro" would mean a slide out keyboard. EDIT: whoa, way late on this, didnt realize there were two more pages of posts after yours. LOL |
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
Ok, saw on another thread that a sprint employee has already been playing with the prototype HD, AND that Rhodium is a diff phone even from that.

Welcome back. I havent seen you on the boards in a while. Does anyone have a picture of this "HTC HD Pro"? Cause I cant find anything. If anything since Sprint jsut built the WiMax network, they will probably get the "HTC MAX" if anything. I dont care about the headphone jack, I have a Zune and a iPod for music. But it is nice to have. I just want it to have a microsd slot. |

The Diamond has me very happy, but I am anxiously awaiting the HD. I am fine with an on screen keyboard and prefer it much more than a slide out that doubles the thickness of the unit. |

What would be REALLY nice is a touch pro with full 480x800 screen and the thickness of a diamond. |

The HD is available for the GSM folks (as you probably know), but it's still an arm and a leg, price wise. Once it hits for Sprint/Alltel I'll be trying it out and I have a feeling it will be the one I carry for a while. Time will tell. |
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
How much is everyone willing to spend on an hd?
As an existing customer, I'd expect to pay about 600 bucks for it. If I renewed my contract, I'd expect to pay around 450. Anything more than that would be pretty absurd. |
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
I see them out there for about $800 from the importers.
I have two (2) contracts I can extend on my Alltel service and will probably extend one. $400-500 range is what I would expect with renewal. |
Re: Sprint getting HTC Rhodium
since the iphone, as by far the best selling PDA phone on the market, is the gold standard for this genre, this HD is the first WM phone to meet or exceed its features. However, i find it dissapointing that this phone still lacks the raw processing power of the iphone.
all that being said, this phone would be a leap in WM phone tech, and I would buy it. (unlike the pro/diamond, which i see as just a small step upgrade over the touch/mogul) |
