Viewsonic SP running Win XP

ViewSonic VCP08 Windows XP Voice-enabled MID [4.3" ViewSonic VCP08 Smartphone Runs on 800MHz Atom Z500, Packs Touchscreen Display

For those of you who didn’t got the daily dose of mobile phones, here’s a little something that will blow you away, Mobile device that runs Win XP.
Dubbed ViewSonic VCP08, this voice-enabled mobile Internet device is actually a pretty darn powerful phone that features an 800MHz Intel Atom Z500 processor, has an internal 4.3-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen display, 512MB of Ram, a huge 8GB SSD for storage, WiFi connectivity and a 1,200mAh battery that we can’t tell for sure how powerful it is with XP in the back. On top of that, the VCP08 also features an external 2.0-inch display with dialing controls, an optical mouse (how cool is that) a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 2-megapixel camera, miniUSB to connect to your PC and microSD for expansion (as if 8GB wouldn’t be enough).

No official word regarding availability, Estimated price $800

Re: Viewsonic SP running Win XP

Wow... Just wow. That thing is as thick as a brick!

Although I could see where having a full version of XP would be handy though...especially someone like me that works in IT and needs to VPN and remote servers and what not. I still dont think I would buy it though. Its to easy to tether as regular PPC

Re: Viewsonic SP running Win XP

It would be nice to have the XP phones fully review, so we could make a better decision on their functionality.

Re: Viewsonic SP running Win XP

Neat...I'd be all over it if it ran Win 7 (even basic). XP's life is coming to a end in the next few years. If I have a phone like that, I will have to hold onto it for a little longer than 2 years...

Very cool.... Isn't that what we are trying to do with Windows Mobile anyway ?

That would be a big question when it comes out. What is the point of it being in the phone if it only ran for 2-3 hours, it would have to last 8-10 hours standby and at least 2-3 hours use time...
