Real Picture-Video Mail/MMS Hack or Regedit ???
 

Some of us new Sprint Q owners are looking for a hack/regedit to allow real picture/video mail on our Q's, anyone have one or are working on one would be greatly appreciated...

apparently theres a version of arcsoft that works on smartphones just can't find a copy....

Yep I see the ArcSoft MMS Composer on their website and it does support Smartphones but of course the app is only available to business license and not end user.... :(

is this supported in the verizon version ? if so i can probably extract it from my buddy's q and see what can be done perhaps if i can get it out maybe mike can tweak it and we can all have good times!

by supported i mean straight out of the box from verizon...

yea if verizons has it, sprints can more than likey get it ;)

I've got tha ppc version of the arcsoft program, which worked well on my 6700.

Yep I tried both versions hoping that one of them would work, but no dice... Hopefully someone gets a working program soon or else I might have to exchange the Q for a 700WX

I work for Sprint so I am constantly switching smart devices. I started with a Treo and fell in love with my PPC and I now have the Moto Q. I think it is the perfect smart device for a beginning PPCGeek (like myself) I love it but the biggest drawback is A. NO PICTURE MAIL (yet) and B. that we didnt introduce the use of Musicstore on this device nor is it used on any smartphone. I am desperatley seeking a picturemail hack so as soon as anyone finds one PLEASE let me know. :D

Can't someone just rip it out of the Verizon Q? This would be awesome to have.

There are screen shots laying around to show it in Outlook: they have Text, Email, MMS

In fact there is a ROM update for the Q too so it should be easier to extract and load.

figures motorola had to be different :evil: their files are .sbfs which I can't for the life of me figure out how to get into it. :( I did manage to make into .smgs which I did using a motorola tool. But I can figure out where to go from there. urrr. Anyone into moto customizing? I read and read but can't dump/extract anything.

Don't give up on this guys!! My girlfriend just traded in her 6700 for a Q (... yeah... I know ) and is desperate for a MMS hack. I helped her put it on her 6700, but obviously the hack won't transfer between devices. Blah.

I'm brand new to the site here, and so far have been absolutely astonished at the things you guys have been able to do here. I was actually told about the site by a Sprint cust. Svc. rep.

Originally I was told this phone would do the picture share, but obviously I was misinformed. I really need to be able to do it quickly for business purposes, my partners and I flip houses, and use picture mail daily. Is this an impassble problem, or just a time consuming remedy? If there's hope, I'll hang on to it, because I love the phone. If you think not, then I'm gonna trade it in. Any ideas? I'll gladly contribute financially if that will help.

If you are mostly just sending pics to your partner, it would be just as quick and easy to send via email to their @pm.sprint.com email address for their phone. Just add that email address to your contacts and it becomes just as easy as using the dedicated MMS mailboxes.

I've been reading with great interest the thread over here about Picture Mail for the Q, hoping someone can pull this off (as they did when I owned the 6700)

While I see the fact that I can send out a pic on an email, I don't really want to remember email addresses, when a phone number is so much easier. I also know I can program it on my phone, but then I would have to program all of them. There's no denying on the simplicity of just entering a phone number.

I tried and downloaded the hack for the 700wx and it partially works. It opens an MMS message but immediately closes it and moves it to the Drafts Folder. If I soft reset, it also makes the MMS option disappear (as most users who have tried this out pointed out already) Plus there is no MMS configuration options on the menu.

Thanks to all of you tinkering on your phones to make this happen. Surely there has to be a way of getting the program from the Verizon Q's...

I'm taking a guess that there is still no resolution to this issue.

Just wondering, is anyone slowly or even occasionally working on this or is it a dead cause?

I was wondering the same thing. I have access to a Verizon unit so I'm wondering if somehow we can extract the Verizon cab and then tweak it for Sprint users. Just how easy (or difficult) is to get access to thje extended ROM (or wherever that Verizon cab hides)

Is anyone having any trouble emailing pictures to Cingular users? It seems like they get the message, but the picture never downloads.
I hope someone comes up with a fix for this. I am even having trouble sending pics via email to some Verizon users. When they try to download the picture, it says connecting, but then says UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD. Any ideas?

That bascially lets you send picture mail. the phone sending by email or whateva sux. Ppl say they dnt get them. I need help!! if there is something out there plz post. Thanks!!

can you please advise why the link to the motorola link .exe file you posted gives me an error message that says it's not a valid windows CE file?

Judging by the size of the file, I believe it is a copy of the firmware for the moto q. The .exe file that is referenced by the link should be ran on your windows 9x/NT/Me/2000/XP/Vista machine with your Q thethered to it.

This will flash your Q with that version of the firmware, and erase your Q's existing data.

OK, so just short of reflashing my device, there is no way to get it to work? I was able to get the MMS to appear in the messaging application, and I can even get the MMS send option to come up, but it flashes briefly, but never remains open long enough to interface with, either by starting from the picture and selecting "Send", nor from starting through MMS. I scoured the registry for options to allow that screen to remain open. I am new to registry editing, so my theory is that from what little I have seen, the screen loads and it is portrait, and not lanscape, and i tried to toggle cookies off and then on again, (read somewhere that would help), but I have had no luck making this work. Does anyone have any suggestions, or is the flash the "FIX" in itself??
