yes and no. I'm on a family share plan so only one upgrade every 2 years.

IF price was the objective I'd be wise to stay away from the newer phones. I hear the Omnia is free right now?

I will say the metal detector is bs....

Wink Re: Please give me a review on the droid

Buy this phone (in fact I'm posting from it right now)! Seriously coming straight from the HTC Vogue(Touch), I have to say this is the best phone I've ever used, including WinMo, and the iPhone. No lag whatsoever, thousands of apps at your finger tips through the Android Market, and a real physical keyboard. Trust me, you'll be doing youself a favor getting this early Christmas present.

Re: Please give me a review on the droid

Wait up fellas!
I also will be upgrading from the Omnia to the Droid. I've been a bit of a WinMo fanboy -ipaq - MDA - Touch - Omnia.......But from what I have seen and read the Droid is the hottest device on the market.

The wife works for VZW, I might be able to play with a DEMO model tomorrow night. I'm eligible to upgrade in two weeks. Sad thing, the more I read about the capabilites of the Droid the more lame my poor Omnia feels.

MS did a good job with Windows 7 - kudoes guys - you finally figured out how to do a PC Operating system correctly. Now get to work on the mobile department, the Windows Mobile brand is seriously hurting.

Re: Please give me a review on the droid

I came from the Omnia and I must say I haven't even gave a passing thought towards WM since. This is by far the best device I have ever used and I know its only going to get better as the OS matures. Can't wait to see what Motorola will do to top this phone.

I know verizon does this but I wasn't very excited about the droid. I hate motorola, the durability of past motos cost them a customer. I love the Android OS though.

What's the durability of the droid in your opinion? What kinda battery life are you guys seeing? What about the screen? How bright is it compared to a iphone or Omnia?

You're help is appreciated!
durability - seems like it is built very well - seems durable

battery life - excellent for a smartphone - I am getting a full 8 hours while streaming music via bluetooth that is being streamed to the phone via 3g connection and also using navi and web surfing, email every 15 minutes and around 30-45 minutes talk in there too.

Screen is beautiful - it is very bright and clear - it is certainly onpar with the iphone and omnia - I sit next to 2 guys at work with these very phones and they both said the screen on the droid was beautiful.

here's my personal review thread...
