What's up with WiFi tether?

I posted about this when I was running Sholes roms. Now I am on Droid Mod 1.0 and it is doing the same thing.
Why can't I get this to work??? It shows that the tethering has started but I cannot connect to it at all. After about a minute or so, the signal goes to nothing. I have tried different channels and settings with no luck. I have never had a problem tethering with my TP2. WTF?

Re: What's up with WiFi tether?

If you're using a slightly older version of Wifi Tethering then that would be the problem. I used to have all kinds of trouble with it until the version that supports WEP came out. If you have kept your data when switching between ROMs that might be the problem. You might want to try a full wipe and then use the Wifi Tether that AdamZ posted here:

Re: What's up with WiFi tether?

It should work. I'm on Droid Mod 1.0. I wonder if it's a problem with my PC ( I can pickup others though), because on my phone side everything looks to be functional? I have had the same issue with 2 different Droids now.
I have been keeping my data though. So maybe?
INFERNO: Did you do a data wipe when installing 1.0 or not?

Re: What's up with WiFi tether?

I have had trouble once with droidmod 1.0, but not since. I am actually writing this while tethered. I did not wipe data when I installed my current rom either. I have version 2.0-pre3 (eclair), if that helps any.

Re: What's up with WiFi tether?

I don't know what could be wrong. Everything else works like it should for me on 1.0.

Sometimes when I start it up, it will not run well until a security prompt (Mcaffee) pops up and asks me whether it should trust the network. When my pc is running slow, it takes forever for the security prompt and with it the tether functionality.

Re: What's up with WiFi tether?

I was thinking this was my problem as well, but the WiFi signal goes from full to nothing for some reason before I can see that screen on my PC. When I click to connect, my PC says that the connection was unsuccessful at like 90% signal. It will connect to other signals at 20%.
I will see if my iPod will connect tonight. If not, I must have a problem somewhere.

Re: What's up with WiFi tether?

Mine can be a bit finicky at first. Sometimes I have to select the AndroidTether SSDI a couple of times before it will connect. Sometimes it will show it's connected but I have no internet connection but if I disconnect and reconnect it's there. On DroidMod, I'll get an alert on the phone when my laptop connects.
