Gps

I figgered out how to nav with TBTD, but I can't seem to get this thing to just act like a GPS receiver with the map, showing me driving all over town. If I touch "my location" it shows me there, but it don't follow me around.......I can drive off the map.

Whatamidoinrong?

Also, if I go to "layers", how do I clear out all the nonsense that's stored there?

(ooooh a SALUTE smiley! I like it! )

Re: Gps

sounds to me like you need to turn your gps on. yes i said turn it on. use your power widget. otherwise you will have a location base on towers and that will not follow you.

Re: Gps

settings...location & security....use gps satellites....is already turned on. When I go to maps, I get the gps dish icon on the taskbar....or whatever you call that at the top of the screen.

I think that this works when you are in navigation mode, meaning you have told it to Navigate somewhere. Yes, when you click on something else you can be thrown out of nav mode and a little blue upward-pointing arrow arrears lower left and pressing it returns to nav mode.

I think Sarge is saying he's not in nav mode but just using the GPS to show the map and his location. And yes, I believe that pressing My Location should center you and then keep you centered unless you clicked on something in which case you'd need to re-hit My Location.

You are seeing the GPS icon in the status bar and not just relying on AGPS? Edit: just saw your answer before I asked it!

Yes, the Droid has a true GPS.

@Sarge
That's really strange, when using Google Maps all you should need to do is click on the "My Location" button (or select it from the menu) and it should follow you around even when you're not using Google Navigator. If you touch the map after pressing "My Location" then it will stop following you until you press "My Location" again. That's all there should be to it. It certainly sounds like you're doing that though...
