Holy crap

i went to best buy tonight and got to look at a working droid. it is NICE. too bad im not spending $600 on one without contract. since im not due for an upgrade for quite a while i will just have to drool over it. but why i do i have a question. is there any way to see what apps are available in the apps store without having the phone? what sites do you guys recommend for free apps? figured i could get started now and figure out if i want to use the wifes upgrade to get one.
