Love to help you but I think you asking for someone that either has done both devices or has done the research on the same devices. Might be hard to find here within hours. Lots of PPCGeeks members but I'd say few are in the droid forum as PPCGeeks in traditionally a place WinMo folk. Probably most of in this here forum are old WinMo users who have switched to droid. Not speaking for others, but I can't see going back to WinMo. Before the Droid news, I was headed for an Imagio but then it was no contest after the little comparison I did with the Droid. This was back in October so I don't have specifics.

I don't recall if it is here or not but I do recall the Moto Droid forum having a lot of yahoo email threads. Not being a yahoo user I disregarded them. My feeling tho is that it's possible but you have to follow some steps that are documented over there.

You might also check the Verison support thread for folk that did an in-depth comparison are just google "imagio droid". There looks to be many hits and side-by-sides.

Re: possible new droid owner

Yahoo is sketchy for IMAP/POP in general outside of paid accounts. From my experiences with my users, the following settings only work through the verizon network (not through WIFI.) Also it seems to just stop working randomly and you need to power cycle the phone to get it to reconnect.

***Incoming server settings***
Username: full email address
Password: Yahoo Password
IMAP Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 143
Security: None

***Outgoing Server Settings***
SMTP Server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 587
Security: None
Requires Sign-In: enabled
Username: Full email address
Password: Yahoo Password

Of note: Paid Yahoo accounts don't seem to have any issues.

Re: possible new droid owner

They tried to offer me an Imagio as a replacement for my TouchPro and I held out for a droid. I'm very happy with it but I already lived in Google, so it worked nicely for me. For those who don't use Google for everything already it probably wouldn't be as convenient.

Re: possible new droid owner

I switched from the TP2 (pretty much the same as an Imagio) to the Droid and have NO regrets. The Droid makes both the TP2 and Imagio look and feel like little toy dinosaurs. This thing is so far ahead of any WinMo phone it's rediculous. You won't even look back if you switch once you learn how it use it.

Re: possible new droid owner

I'm also thinking of what "Droid does" as I'm eligible to upgrade on January 28th. I'm more worried about what "Droid doesn't". I've read alot of the other posts that indicate many of my existing programs have a Droid equivalent available, although without a handset I can't access the Android Market to see what exactly is available. Which is making the decision difficult. My other choice is sticking with WinMo and going with the TP2, although, deep down, I know that Android seems to be the wave of the future.

Re: possible new droid owner

I have only noticed a few shortcomings on the driod, and from what I have learned so far these will be overcome as more apps/roms/programming is done and more is learned about the true capabilities of the droid. I really need to get off my bum and start programming and maybe I can make this baby do what I really want (so far I have been too lazy and too busy looking at what others have/are doing). I seriously doubt anyone could regret going with the droid in long run. My boys are so in love with mine, only downside is now they all want their own (I SO can't afford all those dataplans right now lmao). No way they would go with iphone or any other phones currently out there over a droid (I think I have raised them properly so far :P ).

Re: possible new droid owner

I was told by the rep at Verizion that Yahoo is hard to push to Android platforms due to some legal dispute or something like that. He recommended setting up a Gmail account and having Yahoo forwarded through the Gmail which could be picked up on the phone. Sounds washy to me.
