Task Killers
 

Is anyone running a task killer on their X? I have read that some swear by them and others swear against them.

It seems it's pretty black and white one way or the other, but want some input. Currently, I am not using one. Will it improve performance by using one or will it just create problems.

I'm using Advanced Task Manager (Free). I don't use any of the AutoTask Killers, but I do like to keep an eye on what's running, and will use ATM to manually kill things from time to time.

However, I've found that no matter what I do, my X kind of stabilizes around 50Mb free. If I kill some tasks, it will pop up to as much as 157Mb free, but as I use the phone, it just dwindles back down to the 50Mb mark.

I also haven't seen any discernible difference in responsiveness. I don't know about battery life... I'm never that far from a charger :)

I've tried both the free on and a paid one & come to the conclusion that thay are totally unnessesary. I don't bother with them anymore.

Yeah the OS is designed to make memory available as it is needed. I've been using system panel lite just to kill a single application every now and then but after taking off atk I got significant improvement in battery life.

One thing i've learned with android is to not look at ram the same way i did with windows mobile as it is completely different.

Im currently using advanced task manager, Im kinda in the same boat as J morton. I think it doesn't really make to much difference. I mainly wanted 1 to see if it would help with battery life.

i did buy the advanced task manager version, I wouldnt recommend it. when i ran it i would have to power down and power back up. in order to have a connection (service)

Id like to find a app that actually gives you a soft reset, i do have the Fast reboot app. but then again not really sure yet how affective it is.
