Everything must be squared away now, as the new build of 4.5.608 has been approved and should be made available shortly. Normally when these support documents arrive, the update shows up within a week or so.

Hi.

"I want to thank you for providing feedback on the Droid 2 Global Gingerbread upgrade. The feedback from Motorola Feedback Network members helped us identify a serious issue and stop the general distribution of the software before a larger number of owners were impacted. I want to personally thank you for your contribution -- it is just this kind of thing that demonstrates the value of this group.

Now we've put in the needed changes to eliminate this single serious issue and we're ready to resume the rollout. Because you provided feedback before, we will include you in the initial push and ask again for your feedback.

We will not do a private community as we think we understand the strengths and gaps of this software based on our first soak. I will be sending a survey -- maybe two -- to make sure that you are able to update, and to see that the encryption issue that caused us to delay has truly been addressed.

Expect the push of a new load tomorrow. You should see no change in how the device operates overall -- unless you encountered the encryption issue. That should disappear.

I will send out a survey tomorrow -- in the event that you have any update problems, use that to let me know.

If you are not familiar on how to use RSDLite here is a brief overview

Method 1: While phone is on
Switch your device to PC mode
Turn on debugging mode (settings>applications>development>debugging mode)
Launch RSDLite (make sure device appears in window)
Select SBF
Start
Device will switch to bootloader and begin the flashing process and will reboot when it is complete.

Method 2: While phone is off
To manually put your device in bootloader mode:
Turn off device
press and hold the up and down volume buttons
power on device (continue to hold the up and down volume buttons)
wala - you are in bootloader mode
Launch RSDLite (make sure device appears in window)
Select SBF
Start

Not sure about any of you others out there, but I've been checking every day just to torture myself, and low and behold - I'm downloading the update to my D2G right now.

Taking forever over 3G though...

Anyone who got the update - have you noticed your battery life completely sucking all of a sudden? WTF? I thought this was supposed to HELP the battery issue, not make it worse.
