increase in-call volume??? Please help!

I need to increase my in call volume! i can barely hear, and yes i have the volume all the way up. someone said if you go to HKLM/software/htc/startupanimation and disable it, that it will take care of the volume issues. When i go to that folder, there is just the default with NOTHING there! Also, i have played with the attenuation and the initial volumes and none of the settings i've changed have made a difference. Please help! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
