Unlocking GSM On The LG Fathom?

I've already tried Verizon and they said they couldn't give me the unlock code because I wasn't a Verizon customer...

I recently found this but haven't fully tried it yet:
Quote:

1. With the slide open, tap Phone, press ##7764726750

2. Service Code: ______ displays, enter 6 digit code (default: 000000)

3. Tap Service Prg

4. Display now shows the following fields on screen (read display from left to right (see screen shot 1 for example): MEID, ESN, MDN, MIN, HOME SID, NAM Name, Security Code

5. Tap in MDN field, use DEL (backspace) key on keyboard to removing existing information and enter 10 digit MDN

6. Tap in MIN field, use DEL (backspace) on keyboard to removing existing information and enter 10 digit MDN

7. Tap in "Home SID" field, use backspace key to remove existing information and enter SID,i.e. 20=CHI, 6=NSE

8. Tap Save, tap OK

9. Tap OK on right side of screen PROGRAMMING COMPLETE – device will restart automatically."
I did previously try putting a TracFone Sim card in the phone turning it back on and setting it to Global, but all the phone settings would do then is freeze, IDK If this cause of the rom I am using or not.

Are there any other unlocking procedures I could use and try?

Thanks!

This is a manual Verizon programming, but can also be used to operate the phone on other CDMA networks.
Your best bet is to find a company that offers LG Worldwide or LG Global phone unlocking services. I saw a few that even claimed they had unlock codes for the Fathom. They're about $10USD and would be worth it, as most will refund the money if the unlock is not possible.
I'd try those first. Good luck.

Can you suggest any sites? As according to some XDA users have stated that most can't unlock it or give the wrong codes.

GSM Liberty is the one that seems to be able to do it. I haven't tried yet, but they claim the model works.

Okay so I used GSM Liberty.net and purchased their unlocking service, but in their Code Entry Knowledge base they don't have the Fathom listed...

Can anyone help out and tell me what to do in order to tget to the code entry stage of the procedure?

Thanks

Re: Unlocking GSM On The LG Fathom?

Is this this the correct way...

1. Insert sim card from network which is phone currently working
2. Enter unlock sequence mode 2945#*xxx# where xxx is the model of LG phone numbers(for example, for KU990 enter 2945#*990#, GT540 enter 2945#*540#).
3. Then you get a hidden menu where you can enter unlock code.
4. Enter unlock code.

And do this in dialer and press send or what exactly?

Or can I unlock it through Phone Options > Security > SIM Lock

Re: Unlocking GSM On The LG Fathom?

Seeing as dialing that code doesn't work, I'd try the SIM unlock method from Phone Options.

I have posted a separate thread

Could you please verify the settings & inform me does it help you to remove sim lock?

GSM Liberty says they can't unlock an LG Fathom tied to Verizon. Does anyone know of a site that can? Thank you.

Re: Unlocking GSM On The LG Fathom?

I do have a Verizon fathom bought in Brooklyn but used in a overseas 850 GSM provider.
No problem whatsoever, just insert my SIMcard from my old phone, turn it on, choose not register in my home Verizon CDMA partner, set it to GSM mode (with some annoying global switch pop ups everytime I enter into a basement) and enjoy my fathom. No need to unlock anything since is already factory unlocked (I mean the GSM part of it).
