They will use data to transfer the map to you, but if you're using aGPS, you're already using data, so it doesn't really matter.

Re: kinda lost with the gps
oh, when I said internet I meant data connection.
just like when you go online on your phone or download emails, picture/video messages straight from your phone without having it plugged into the desktop computer. |

Re: kinda lost with the gps
gps viewer is free and will allow you to see if your gps is getting satellite locks. You'll need a second program to actually use the gps for map or driving directions.

Re: kinda lost with the gps
You can use HTC GPS tool, which can be downloaded here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360477
It will show you the number of satellites used, number of satellites locked, and the NMEA-183 data strings (which is useless unless you're a programmer trying to write a program which uses GPS). Also recommend you upgrade your radio (less its working like a charm) to 3.42.50, which you can do by flashing the bell ROM, then w/e custom ROM you want. The bell ROM can be found: http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownloa...cat=2&dl_id=98 Good luck. |

He must have an older alltel rom. There was an update a couple months back that came out with that radio. I recommend that the original poster goes to htc.com and gets the newest alltel 6.1 rom and flash that, then flash a rom of your choice. That's what I did, and then used the alltel dcd carrier cab and arcsoft cabs and my gps is working like a charm. Didn't do anything to it. |

Re: kinda lost with the gps
What am I supposed to do with the GPS Tool? I got it installed and configured, but how do I actually navigate?
does it mean I still have to use the Sprint Navigation program? |
