Re: Sprint Voicemail cab
I think hes talking about the today plugin that shows your voicemail count on the today screen...its just a one line program. It comes with Sprint Roms but is left out of most custom ROMs. I too have been wondering if this exists.

Re: Sprint Voicemail cab
I think he's talking about how the Iphone has a screen that downloads the voicemail to the phone and play without calling your voicemail. Its called Visual Voicemail. see link for example: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1486 .
There is a different way to get voicemail... voice to text. PhoneTag (http://phonetag.com/index.html) automatically converts your voicemail into text and delivers it directly to your mobile phone. Bad news...its a paid service.

Re: Sprint Voicemail cab
There was another forum that had a topic on this way back when the first iPhones started coming out. It talked about how to get forwarding for free through sprint and it worked with the also free visual voicemail service that callwave had because it was a certain type of forwarding (no answer, hold, and busy call forwarding I believe). I think that the "free" part of it was misunderstood, but it doesn't hurt to call and find out, mentioning those keywords of course (busy, no answer, and hold forwarding). What intrigues me is that the new Instinct by Samsung has visual voicemail natively built in so this means that sprint has the capability of hosting such a service themselves. Unless they outsource it, which I doubt. I'm waiting until they release this service to other phones capable of using it, which would be ALL smartphones or PPC phones. All the phones really need is a software upgrade to reflect the Inbox style voicemail, and the rest is behind the scenes with setting up sprint's new voicemail system to catch the calls and notify the phone.
