Must be me, Vogue GPS Question
Ok I must be missing something here, I've searched and searched, tried and tried, yet I can not get the gps to work on my phone what-so-ever. Maybe I'm being stupid and not finding that it still requires an external GPS reciever but I can't find where it says it.
Here is the info on my device. If I go into diag mode I have: VOGU100 MFG SPL-2.31.Coke CPLD-3 Radio Version: 3.37.78 Rom Version: 3.14.605.1 (Official Version MR1 Update) Every place I read it says I just need to install the Valhalla_Legends_GPSServer.cab, turn location to ON and I should be good to go. In Schaps_AdvancedConfig_v2.0.2.0 it shows that AGPS is turned On. But I can never get a fix, lock or anything. Am I just stupid here or am I missing something I need to do. I do have a external Bluetooth GPS reciever but would prefer NOT to use it. I tried one of the custom kitchen roms, and still no go. Any advice would be great. Thanks Jason |

Re: Must be me, Vogue GPS Question
Ok I did a hard reset to my phone, and did everthing in the instructions minus the ip change (QPST edits), Turned Location to ON, downloaded Google maps, and it just sits there saying "Seeking GPS Satellites (0)" All settings in Google maps and in the external GPS in the phone are default which if I read correctly is what its supposed to be. :-(

Then you need HTC Quick GPS (port 4, hot start, open, nav init). Let it sit 5-10 minutes while driving around (tap screen to keep alive). Watch the radar screen and see if you are picking up any sats. |

It is not so tough if you are running a custom rom. Plus these are EXTRA steps for Valhalla people who cannot lock. You are right that it is better running Sprint for a lot of reasons, only downside for me is coverage. If Sprint's coverage was decent on the West Coast I would change in a minute. I had them for the first few weeks out here and lost a million calls; since their coverage map hasn't changed since then, no reason to switch. I wish I could have the 99 everything plan. |

Re: Must be me, Vogue GPS Question
okay so i feel your problem. iv tried and tried and tried different things and not locks no luck.](*,) the one thing i havent tried is going to a pre gps rom and then to a gps rom. so if u went from the off. vzw 6.1 update to a custom gps rom your gps wont work. the only reason i haven tried this yet is because i havent found a good help thread about doing it via usb only. im afrade to use the meathod of flashing using sd card. so if someone has one a big thanks i advance.
just something i started at but didnt end up finding what i wanted hope it helps man http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/archive/in...p/t-30718.html if u try this let me know how it goes on the account if im to much of a noob to try (and scared) |
Re: Must be me, Vogue GPS Question
Ok so I'm going to try a custom cooked rom and see if this helps me out. But I have a question. Since I have radio version 3.37.78, do I need to upgrade to the Sprints 3.42.30 version?
I think I'm going to go ahead and give it a shot, but just wanted to ask. |

Where do you live? I live in Las Vegas, Nv and have always had outstanding service. Even when i worked in the basement of the casino as a cook. Only Sprint/Nextel worked down there. All the sous chefs have Nextel chirps. |

Re: Must be me, Vogue GPS Question
Hey guys - maybe you can help me. I followed all of the instructions at: http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?t...IX_VERIZON_GPS to downgrade my radio and work my way back up. (Before I did that, I had done the aGPS hack - installed the drivers and changed everything in QPST, but it still wasn't working.) So I decided to follow those steps from start to finish.
Problem is, now when I try to install the drivers in HTC Diagnostic mode, I keep getting the MS New Hardware Wizard looking for the drivers. I've installed, and reinstalled (rebooting the desktop every time) at least 4 times - same result every time. (I actually tried doing it on a different computer as well, and get the same result, so I assume it's something I've done with the phone. I've now updated to the 3.42.50 Radio w/ the Bell Rom, and then flashed NFSFAN's 6.5 v6. Any ideas? |

Re: Must be me, Vogue GPS Question
Thanks for the reply Josh. Unfortunately that didn't work, but I actually got some help from kmanuel over @ XDA.
In case anyone else has the problem, it turns out that it was because I'm running XP on my desktop. XP requires special drivers. The further problem was that I tried installing them, they weren't installed in the drivers folder, they were in another folder labeled 'DRVSTORE'. Anyway, if you're getting the New Hardware Wizard when you're connecting in DIAG mode, check out this thread - worked for me & kmanuel! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462712 |
