Here's the good news: There is a program to do this, called PdaNet by June Fabrics.
Here's the bad news: The software costs $34 (one time and still way cheaper than the ~$60 a month for phone as modem plans) Here's the disclaimer: Using your phone in this manner violates the contract (terms of use) between you and your carrier. (then again, I've been using this program for close to a year now without any issue.) Link for the software: http://junefabrics.com/pdanet/index.php Hope this helps, Robb |

Re: Tethering
It may be that some dont understand what you are asking for. Tethering to from what to what to do what? You can tether your phone to your pc and access the web that way if that is what you are trying to do. In that case you are using your pc's internet connection so your phone will not charge data.
If you are trying to go the other way (use your phone as an access point to the web for your pc) you are SOL. You will be charged for data usage on the phone end in that case.

Re: Tethering
sorry,
I want to tether my phone to my laptop so when im in an area with no wifi,I can access the internet. I have heard of some roms that already have the reg edit done, but i like my stock bell rom, i just wanted to do the reg edit myself. I hope this helps. thanks. |

it does not justify burning a custom ROM instead of Bell's one (which is very good otherwise). I found the following thread where the reg edits are described for Sprint (?), http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=40658 and my guess is that they need to be modified for Bell and then TESTED, but the cab with the reg edits from that thread is here: Internet Sharing FIX.zip |

Re: Tethering
I'm not sure if the reg edits for sprint and verizon phones is the same as for Bell. I'll do some looking and let you know.
