XV6900 is frozen at splash screen after changing default SIP. Please help!

I was changing the default sip in the registry from the standard keyboard to PCMkeyboard and after a soft reset my phone is stuck at the Verizon splash screen. I can’t for the life of me see how that would have kept it from booting.

I changed HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\DefaultIM from {42429667-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9} to {BB25F2EB-688C-4698-ADFC-F422A148AD4F}

I am running the new leaked Verizon WM 6.1 with customizations. I've given it a few soft resets to no avail as well as pulling the battery. How can I get this thing to boot up so I can at least switch the SIP back?

I was under the impression that that leaked rom was unstable and not any good... why not just flash one of the good cooked roms out there?

The ROM is fine. Fast, stable with good battery life. It's my regedit that must have hosed the phone.

Well I didn't see anyone leaping on this one so I went ahead and hard reset. I'm still curious to know if I could have worked around this some other way and why that particular regedit would have had that effect. Has anyone else set PCMkeyboard as their default in the registry? Did I have the right CLSID?

The same thing happened to me when I tried to change my sip through the registry. I had to do a hard reset too.

If you wanna change it safely, you can use SIPchange. Let me know if it works.

LOL I discovered sipchange while trying to work through this as well as an old thread cautioning about screwing up the default keyboard CLSID. Thanks for the follow up though. At least I learned something new and I get faster rebuilding each time I do a hard reset
