Pictures Issues

Ever since I updated my phone to 6.1 my pictures that were stored on my SD card have had an extra file extension added to them and I cannot view them any longer. I removed my card during the update and I didn't have it set to encrypt my card but yet all my photos now have the extension .menc added to the end of them. My question is does anyone have any idea what I can do to recover these pictures? I have already tried removing the .menc extension from the file and just having it as .jpg but that hasn't worked. Also the other odd thing is that while I had other files on my SD card the only files that were affected are my pictures. Any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated.
