Yep, this is a cable that both sends and recieves data, as well as power to your device. It is usually faster (I think) then your OEM Charger that came with your device. However, leaving your device connected to your computer can sometimes cause problems, so just make sure your device doesn't slow down after staying plugged in all the time. I don't have your device to say for sure, but often software will start to cause problems (really it is just bugs, that need to get fixed) so see if it impacts your performance any. You are probably fine, but before replacing your device, check that.

Thanks both of u guys. I have Sprint HTC Touch. I just noticed that I can charge it via USB cable just as via wall charger, very interesting.

Just for the record, the oem charger is about double the speed of the usb charge. From a dead battery to full my phone charges around 1.5h on wall charger, and around 3h on usb

yes, usb max current is 500mah, the oem wall charger is 1000mah.

math is your friend.

Re: USB Charging - Is this normal

Is there anyways to switch the charging option via USB (if you prefer to)?
Also, is it safe to charge the phone via USB?
