FIXED!! Bluetooth pan Gone after kitchen rom

Hi, I was using Dharvey's black Vista rom and decided to try the PPC Kitchen (build 20748) to cook my own rom. However, after installing rom...I no longer have Bluetooth pan. When i was using dharveys rom i was able to pair my phone to my laptop and select "join a personal area Network" and it would see my phone as the modem and connect. Now with the kitchen rom it give me error that cant find device. activesync works though so the pairing is fine. It does not see my phone as the modem. When Flashing back to dharveys rom i can pair it and it sees it as a modem and connects. What am i missing? i have been searching like crazy to find a solution cause i really like the kitchen and making my rom. Is there a reg fix or cab file out there. what did dharvey use in his rom to make it work? i was using ICS to connect to my laptop. is that the only rom that supports pan and is pre set to work. Please HELP.

ps. i have used the ICS fix and the btdun cab.....still no luck.
only way to get ICS bluetooth pan to work is to flash back to Dharveys rom.

*EDIT*

see my post on page 2 for FIX!!!!

You know, my roms are built with PPCKitchen as well and they can't be used as BT PAN either.....wonder if there's a connection, I'm using SYS 20273 though

I noticed that your rom is missing the the BTPAN1 registry key. I tried to duplicate the key from the DHarvey rom and my laptop recognized my phone had PAN but my phone started doing funky things.

How did you do that? i tried importing the reg but couldnt. Can you explain how you did it and what funky things started happening. I really like the latest rom from the kitchen but this is the only thing that missing that i use the most. Im Sure someone will figure it out.

I just manually addeed the key with all the strings and values. After I did that my macbook recognized I had the PAN service on my phone but it would not allow me to get on any websites although I had a connection between my phone and the laptop. So I went back in and realized I had forgotten one value and put it in. After a soft reset my phone had the wifi icon on the top bar and a notification popped up about a network card connection. So after being really frustrated since I thought I almost had it I went back to the DHarvey rom.

Re: Help! Bluetooth pan Gone after kitchen rom

that is wierd. Maybe Dharvey can help us get this fixed. Im surprised that this hasnt been brought up in the latest kitchen. Im sure lots of poeple use pan over ICS. Should we bring this to the attention of the mods? Seems like a really important thing to leave out.

Someone please fix:(

I loved WDM M2D rom but this was a real deal breaker for me. Hopefully someone can come up with a cab that will fix the registry.

Re: Help! Bluetooth pan Gone after kitchen rom

i really hope so. would this be a simple as a cab fix or would we have to change roms?

I'm not very familiar with ICS over BT Pan however, Try adding that registry setting mentioned above and then try changing the DNS Settings to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 and disable ip6 or whatever it is. Only leave IP4 enabled.

They're open dns settings and they have always worked for my windows PC.

Other than that I have no ideas guys.

Re: Help! Bluetooth pan Gone after kitchen rom

I don't quite understand either. So what are the Registry settings? can Someone Post them and show how to put them in. Im not a Newbie, but i dont mess with or know how to write registry entries. I would think that dharvey would know how to fix this. So why is it being left out of the builds? Isnt there more people having this issue? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!:violent2:

FIXED!!!!! Help! Bluetooth pan Gone after kitchen rom

1 Attachment(s)
I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

AFTER MUCH HEADACHES AND CRIES I FIGURED IT OUT.

PAN NOW WORKS!!!!!!!! HOW?

It's quite a process, but to spare you guys the work of getting the registry settings then having to flash back roms several times I have them for you!!!

simple, first
DOWNLOAD CEREGEDITOR
http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/ceregedit_setup.exe

Then Within the program, IMPORT the registry Key and i have provided to the folder
HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE/COMM

Then you should see BTpan1 folder in the registry (next to btpan)

Then install the internet connection fix and BTDUN.cab and reset.

(FILES ARE IN ATTACTHMENT)

Pair your Device

Now you see Your phone as an access point. Join Personal area network.

ENJOY>..

Tested and Works:headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::head bang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::head bang:

That fixed it for me also, but I had to uninstall the ICS fix. With it installed I couldn't connect ICS (connect button greyed out). Seems to work fine without it (Bell user).

Thanks!

Edit: Only needed the missing reg entries. Did not load the other two items and it still worked.

Re: FIXED!! Bluetooth pan Gone after kitchen rom

Could this fix my issue of not being able to create an activesync connection via bluetooth? My phone tells me that there is no partnership set up with my laptop when I try to conenct. However, in bluetooth settings I can get my phone and laptop to see each other and set up that partnership. Just won't work through activesync like it used too on the stock rom.
I'm currently running conflippers alltel 10-3-08 6.1 rom if that helps.
Thanks in advace -

It's Vista. Like I said, it worked on my stock 6.0 rom but since I went to the custom 6.1 rom it hasn't worked anymore. Sorry for the confusion - it is mobile device center but on my phone it still says activesync.

Fixed for me on a custom bell rom. Installed reg values only, and it didn't work. Added ICSfix and BTDUN, and connect button greyed out in ICS. Removed the ICSfix.cab and it worked! So ICSfix broke ICS sharing in my rom. Ran beautifully connecting my Sprint Vogue to my Macbook.

Re: FIXED!! Bluetooth pan Gone after kitchen rom

The bluetooth fix never worked on my phone but I must say "this surprised the heck out of me." Like a previous poster mentioned, I installed everything and my connection option was greyed out on bluetooth pan. I removed the bluetooth fix and rebooted and pan was working and it gave Vista an IPV6 ip address. It still occasionally disconnects. Now if I can just get it working with Ubuntu 8.10.

Thanks so much

We i started testing again and it didnt work....for some reason installing the cab and the cereg separate works, but combining the registry into the cab doesn't....it's weird

Ill keep trying but until I know for sure I don't want to post another broken cab

perhaps unrelated but I've had that issue before, and it was only "one way". ie - if i used the phone to pair, NO activesync options, but if i started the pairing from my XP desktop, then I do get Activesync in the pairing.... might be worth trying at least... no exactly a fix but oh well.

Using Telus P3050 Touch.
All I can ever get when paired are the services 'Wireless Stereo' & 'Serial Port'. Never see PAN or activesync.

Any ideas?

If you install files from post 12, except Internet Sharing fix, you'll see PAN service. Problem is it never gets an IP and doesn't connect to internet, at least for me.

Tried that in my Touch and I still don't see the PAN service... I lost my hopes months ago on this until I saw this thread.

Is there anything else I can try? What ROM are you guys using?
