Removing Sprint Customizations

I would like to know how to remove the sprint customizations from the official rom. I have been working on creating my own personal rom customized just the way I like, and this is the last thing left. How can I remove the customizations and turn each of Sprint specific items installed into OEM's so that a hard reset will complete faster.

When you decompose the rom with Vogue_Kitchen_Tools, many items will be hidden or read only. In the root of Vogue_Kitchen_Tools, use the following:

attrib *.* -r -s -h -a /s

Then look for the following files, which run in the following order:

config_operator.txt
Code:
LOCK:Enabled
CFG: \WINDOWS\config_PT.txt
config_pt.txt
Code:
TSK: \Windows\Htc.tsk
EXEC:\Windows\AddContacts.exe
CAB: \Windows\GetGL.CAB
CAB: \Windows\GroveMobile_pulgIn.sa_noUninstall.CAB
CAB: \Windows\SPCS GetOZ.CAB
CAB: \Windows\getmail.ppcwm5.Release.sprintmail_uninstall.CAB
CAB: \Windows\SprintTV_PPC_15x_01024_signed.CAB
CAB: \Windows\ondemand_6900_boot.arm.CAB
CAB: \Windows\WM6_PPC_HTCNaxos-2_Opera865_3071.cab
CAB: \Windows\sprint-navigation-htc-touchmr-2.0.16-noreboot.cab
CAB: \Windows\RestorePIE.cab
EXEC:\Windows\ChgScutAttri.exe
CAB: \Windows\Hidden.CAB
CAB: \Windows\PPST_080516_7500_SPCS_2.04.sa.CAB
XML: \Windows\RemovePrograms.xml
CAB: \Windows\SPCS_Todayplugin0527.CAB
XML: \Windows\MoveSrt.xml
EXEC:\Windows\PPST.exe
EXEC:\Windows\WriteDMData.exe
CFG: \Windows\config.txt
config.txt
Code:
LOCK:Enabled
LOCK:Disabled
RST: Reset
In each of these files, remove the lines that you don't want to execute and when you rebuild the ROM, that particular customization will no longer execute.

Best regards,
-boggsie

easiest thing to do is change \OEM\OperatorPKG\config_operator.txt to look like this:

LOCK:Enabled
LOCKisabled
RST: Reset

That will completely bypass Sprint customizations.....now if you were to add UC, then you would want it to look like this:

LOCK:Enabled
LOCKisabled
EXEC: \Windows\SDAutoRun.exe

To create OEMs for each of them, use OEM pkg creator to convert the cabs to OEM.

ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/OM...ageCreator.zip

most all of the cabs are in \OEM\OperatorPKG_PT, but there is 2 in \OEM\OEMAPPS (Sprint Nav & Opera).

Re: Removing Sprint Customizations

Hi Guys,

Everyone has been really helpful. Keep up the good work!
Just one question. I tried removing these from config_pt.txt:

CAB: \Windows\GetGL.CAB
CAB: \Windows\GroveMobile_pulgIn.sa_noUninstall.CAB
CAB: \Windows\SPCS GetOZ.CAB
CAB: \Windows\getmail.ppcwm5.Release.sprintmail_uninsta ll.CAB
CAB: \Windows\SprintTV_PPC_15x_01024_signed.CAB
CAB: \Windows\ondemand_6900_boot.arm.CAB
CAB: \Windows\WM6_PPC_HTCNaxos-2_Opera865_3071.cab
CAB: \Windows\sprint-navigation-htc-touchmr-2.0.16-noreboot.cab

But after I installed my ROM, the Messaging App no longer appears in my Programs folder. The App still exists in the Start Menu but I don't see it in the Programs Folder. And that might be causing problems for Active Sync because I can no longer set it up to sync with exchange.

Any ideas?
