Removing Opera from Manila2D interface - FIXED!

Mission completed !!!

Thanks to OMJ suppling me with a copy of IEplore.exe I have renamed the file to OperaL.exe and copied directly into the \windows folder of my device and went to the Internet tab on the Manila interface and clicked on the globe and boom - IE opens up the page

Now understand, this will break your Opera browser and pull up IE instead each time. to correct that if you want to run them both reinstall Opera and install it into your Storage Card - this will update all the known shortcuts on your device (programs, program page, etc) but the renamed file for Manila/TF3d will still look to the \windows directory and pull up IE by default (tested with the latest beta build of Opera and installed as above and no tweaks or reg edits needed all previous shortcuts pull up opera and Manila pulls up IE)

Now if you would rather have Skyfire as the Manila default, same deal - rename skyfire.exe to OperaL.exe, copy into \windows and allow it to overwrite, then reinstall Opera onto your storage card and you should be all set

Again thanks OMJ for the file and everyones ideas here as well

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who favors PIE over Opera. I'd love to get rid of it and have PIE be the default for the internet tab.

Hey all,

Thanks for responding - unfortunately all Ive read thus far points to the fact that its based in the .exe itself and not an option/reg setting but Im hoping someone around here might have read or found a thread debunking that and with a fix as well LOL

Yeah Ive read that and thats for adding widgets (like the youtube app call) to the page, basically you can add tons of them and scroll down to a favorite page by clicking it, but everyone states off that page it will still bring it up in Opera - Ill give it a try though as those lines are at least more direct than most

Thanks

The quick easy way to do it, is pick your favorite internet browser, and rename it to operaL.exe, make sure it's in the /Windows directory, and you have it!

True, but ive heard issues of that as well as it can cause some issues with system calls to IE and not finding it - I did think that I would copy over the executable to the storage card, rename that to OperaL and then copy that back, then there is a IE and Opera exe file both in the \windows directory but in reality they are actually both IE - just been flashing my ROM like a madman the last few days and havent tried it yet LOL

Will be trying it in a few and let ya know
