Re: Removing Opera from Manila2D interface

Interesting input from you guys. If renaming PIE to OperaL.exe causes system to not find PIE in all instances, maybe going into SKtools and defaulting Opera to PIE along with that fix might correct the issue. I personally have not tested it, Just a theory.

Re: Removing Opera from Manila2D interface

Interesting take - right now the problem Im facing is that iexplore.exe on my Touch is set to read-only and a protected file, this is causing issues with:

1)resetting the "read only" status doesnt stay and reverts back to read only instantly

2)being a protected system file it will not allow me to copy or put into a .zip or .rar file into another directory, the same directory or on the storage card utilizing total commander, mobile versions of Zip and Rar (didnt think of SKTools finding it now - found and failed to copy the iexplore.exe file)

3)being that it is a protected file it may not also allow the renaming of the file either - not wanting to try that simply as I dont want to have to reflash again already tonight LOL

thinking we are gaining some steam here and may fix this issue soon

OK, I cannot find just the IExplore.exe ~16K in file size anywhere on the net, in installer or emulator packages

Anyone (Chef or otherwise) that may have it or can rip it, can you post it here?

Thanks

Still unable to test this out with IExplore.exe as I cannot find the file anywhere (here, net, etc)

I have tested this Idea of renaming skyfire.exe to OperaL.exe and coping all the files into the windows directory and it seems to function (I dont have a signon to test and havent contacted support to reset) but looks like its possible thus far

Mission completed !!!

Thanks to OMJ suppling me with a copy of IEplore.exe I have renamed the file to OperaL.exe and copied directly into the \windows folder of my device and went to the Internet tab on the Manila interface and clicked on the globe and boom - IE opens up the page

Now understand, this will break your Opera browser and pull up IE instead each time. to correct that if you want to run them both reinstall Opera and install it into your Storage Card - this will update all the known shortcuts on your device (programs, program page, etc) but the renamed file for Manila/TF3d will still look to the \windows directory and pull up IE by default (tested with the latest beta build of Opera and installed as above and no tweaks or reg edits needed all previous shortcuts pull up opera and Manila pulls up IE)

Now if you would rather have Skyfire as the Manila default, same deal - rename skyfire.exe to OperaL.exe, copy into \windows and allow it to overwrite, then reinstall Opera onto your storage card and you should be all set

Again thanks OMJ for the file and everyones ideas here as well

when you connect to your PC utilizing activesync click on the browse device button

Make sure you set in the options of the explorer window
tools>options>view
* show hidden files and folders
* uncheck "hide protected operating system files

then copy and paste and say yes to overwrite file

then reinstall opera onto your storage card

test and be happy in the world LOL

Nicely done, Doug! Opera is not one of my favorites to use. But then, I don't use PIE the same way I use Firefox on my PC, So really don't care about getting a 'Desktop browsing experience on my PPC'. You just solved the only irritation I have with M2D. Thanks! =D>

Not a problem - believe me it was a collaborative issue in dealing with this - i myself dont like Opera (for an Opera optimized page its fine - for anything else its like reading a web page from 30 feet away with its fill to screen LOL)

Just glad to get past it and still have opera and/or Skyfire available as well

Just glad someone appreciates it

I'm happy to report that this worked perfectly. I also made sure I saved the original file to my PC, using YNK logic...
