Strange Activesync problem

So I recently built a new rom (20273) using BuildOS and am loving it, but I'm running into a problem I've never encountered before and can't find on here after searching around as best as I can.

When I connect my phone to my laptop like usual, activesync sees it and it connects and everything syncs fine. But my wireless connection on my laptop disconnects from my home router, or any wireless router I've tried, and won't reconnect until I disconnect the phone. When I connect the phone, like always before, Local Area 3 pops up and shows that it is connecting, and then once it is connected my wireless disconnects. This is different from before in that before I built this rom my wireless never disconnected.....

If I go into the settings -> USB to PC and uncheck the "Enable advanced network functionality" box, then I no longer get the Local Area 3 connecting icon in the taskbar, and activesync still works, and my wireless is fine, it does NOT disconnect. But I've always had that box checked before and never had this problem. I don't like having that box disconnected because then I get a stupid activesync icon at the bottom of my today screen when the phone is connected and it annoys me to no end.

Is there some fix for this, so I can leave the advanced network functionality box checked and not disable my wireless, or at least remove the stupid activesync icon from the today screen when my phone is connected???
