Constant roaming, no internet. Cant copy settings 2 Nams vs 1! Argh!
Hey guys, ive tried almost everything to get my internet and roaming fixed on my Sprint 6900 thats been cloned to tell Verizon thats its my original phone.
i took all my 6700 settings and copied them over to the 6900 via QPST, CDMA, and ##778 this enabled me to call Verizon with it and have them do the final step of accepting it on their network as my 6700 and now its calls and texts as if it was my 6700. The problem is that no matter how many settings i change and things i try i cant get out of roaming and i cant get internet working. This isnt as big a deal as it sounds because i dont use pocket internet barely at all (mostly because of cost) and with the Verizon plan its free to roam in most situations. But still i'd like to have it fully working and as internet becomes cheaper i will start to use it. As someone else has mentioned with their phone mine displays "Preferred Network" on the banner instead of Verizon... im thinking its related... not the cause obviously but related. Preferred network seems to mean to me it can bounce between Nams. Im not at all sure on that. Heres a pic comparing the phones Nams on QPST: [img=http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/8408/cdma2696700compareks4.th.jpg] If anyone can help with Now i dont know why i cant get roaming off and internet on but i notice that the 6900 has 2 Nams and in most viewing/hacking programs the 6700 only has one. The first nam on both phone is the same, its my phone number with some other settings but the 2nd nam on the 6900 is a strange number. Its IMSI is 0000006221 and theirs no banner listed. I was pretty sure the point of 2 nams was to be able to swap networks for whatever reason but as far as i know the phone was never set up to do that and i dont know why the 2nd nam has these strange settings. I have a backup from QPST made before i made all the changes and the numbers on Nam2 did change after applying all the settings i applied... none of which directly changed those numbers. Now here is what ive done and tried to fix this: First off i copied all my settings to make my Sprint 6900 look like my Verizon 6700. Then i got the A-key from Verizon. They saw the Sprint 6900 as my 6700 so they programmed it with me on the other line. Then my phone worked. Now to get roaming and internet fixed ive tried Kaeslumz rewrite of PzztGotbagz method of getting your AAA auth key. I tried the initial instructions of using my 6900 but i realized the code i grabbed from that wouldnt work so after i tried it i got the code from the 6700. Heres a pic of it: ![]() So ive tried that auth key, ive tried relocking my phone and starting over with the .40 Unlocker making sure the Sprint customizations didnt run then installing a stock VZW rom and letting those customizations run and then applying the 2.41 unlocker to get GPS working and finally popping a PPCKitchen cooked rom on. Funny thing is the Verizon Customizations after initial install and hard resetting NEVER runs after setting the calibration and date. I dont know if it runs in the background but it never appears. Anyways im sure ive tried a few other steps other users have offered but i cant remember them now. Sorry for making this such a long post. if theirs any other info or pics that might be helpful let me know. Last edited by buddhatikkigod; 08-14-2008 at 12:15 PM. |
