Cap internet connection automatically?

hi,

I'd like to preserve battery life and make the phone disconnect from the internet if it has been idle for a couple of minutes.

Is there any solution for this available?

Thank You

Well unless you have a program/application/software (e.g., WeatherPanel, E-mail, etc.) that is using data on a regular basis or interval, your data connection will go idle.

Remember, when the arrows for your data connection are greyed out that means that there is no active transfer of data.

Coz

right, but even an idle data connection reduces battery life significantly. Just for having an active session.

Just out of curiosity...how much battery life are you losing with an idle connection?

Not on my phone. If my data connection isnt active it might as well not be connected.

While sitting idle, there shouldn't be any extra battery usage, as there is no data being recieved. In fact, if you kept reconnecting, you may be using more battery.

My internet connection sits idle as well. But still sends connection packets via the radio processor, hence reduces the battery. Dual processor. 400mhz and radio 133mhz.
Same with the internet and gps usage greatly reduces battery life.

How can you call it 'idle' if you say its sending packets still? That is a contradiction in and of itself.
