Suddenly Can't Connect to the Internet...Help!

Suddenly this morning, whenever I try to connect to the Internet on my Touch, it tries to dial #777 and then I get an error message that it "Cannot connect for an unknown reason" and to change my settings if necessary. I've never had this problem before, and I haven't done anything lately that should cause this to happen. I've tried soft-resetting a couple of times with no luck. ](*,)

Can anyone help me diagnose the problem? Thanks in advance.

Run the IOTA to re-provision your data connections.

Before monkeying with your device too much, I would suggest you contact Sprint and see if they're experiencing any issues with their data server. As for #777, that's the number that your device dials to access the data server.

OK, here's the weird thing...I have my phone set to "roaming only". I just changed it to "automatic" and it connected with no problem. When I went back to roaming, I got the error again. This has never been a problem before........

Besides running IOTA (might not work) or taking it to Sprint (they may say they can't garantee a signal or net access while in roaming), I am plum out of ideas.

Here dude try this. I am guessing your carrier is Sprint since your carrier in your info at the top says spring. lol  Try doing a soft reset, then try installing this Sprint Provisioning cab from NFSFAN:

If it works make sure you go to his rom thread and give him a thanks! ;)

Basically , it is a carrier cab that sets/changes the settings/rules for your service provider on your device by installing a simple cab file to setup data instead of you having to manually input/change the dialing rules and settings on your device in order to allow you to connect to the internet. :)

thanks for the reply! another question: my internet/weather does work for some period of time, but then it stops working for no apparent reason. In order for me to get it to working again, i have to soft reset the phone, or turn it off/on. Will this CAB correct that problem?

Unsure. It shouldn't hurt to install a carrier cab (provided you install the right one for your carrier) but I suggest you go over to the diamond forum and find one there for your carrier. It kinda sounds like you may have something there interrupting your connection causing you problems. Maybe you should use an app like Memmaid or ClearTemp that will show what processes are running at any given time so when you are having trouble connecting you can see what is going on there. It is a good idea to use an app like those anyway to help clear out temp files, cookies, and cache every now and then. Hope that helps!
