tethering problem

I did follow the instructions by this link:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30265

I made all changes in the registry and also disabled the Phone as Modem connection.
After a few soft reset and hard reset, I still cannot tether successfully.

Here is what I did for the tethering:

1) open IE from Handset and browse any page, data connection is on,
2) connect handset and pc with usb cable,
3) activesync run automatically in PC and showed connected
4) from handset's comm manager, click Internet Sharing, Status still
disconnected, and the connect button is grey.
BTW, in Comm Manager, any time when I connect handset and PC with USB cable,
the Data Connection will be automatically off.
What's the problem?
Any clue?
Do I miss any configurations ?

Thanks.

Re: tethering problem

the easiest way i found to tether is this.

1.) in activesync, go to connection settings, uncheck the box that says allow usb connections.
2.) connect your phone, go to comm manager, turn on internet sharing
3.) connect and enjoy!!

this way there is no need to open pie first. it works even when no connections has been established on the phone first. it is important to not have an activesync connection on your computer as this will make your connection cut out every few minutes.

Re: tethering problem

I get error code 67 when I tried it. It says my username and password doesn't match. I've been trying to do this also with my touch. Any other advice would be grateful!!

Re: tethering problem

I followed your instructions, completed step 1 , but when I go to comm manager to turn on my internet sharing, the connect button always grey.
Do I need to config something for it?
I checked the connection settings, there are two things, "Sprint" and "my work network".
Under Sprint,
Add a new modem connection
set up my proxy server
manage existing connections

Under My work network:
Add a new modem connection
Add a new VPN server connection
set up my proxy server

What kind of setting do I need to do?
Thank you.

Re: tethering problem

one more thing to try is to disable the advanced network functionality. it is under start - settings - connections - usb to pc - and make sure the box is NOT checked.

jfk try resetting your iota. go to start - settings - phone - services - internet - get settings - and hit start.

Re: tethering problem

Tried it already.
The connect button in internet sharing is still grey.
It seems to me that the internet sharing is diabled.
How to make it enable?
Thank you.
