Caching your home satellites? Maybe if you left it off for a couple of days or moved a hundred miles away it wouldn't be so quick.

maybe it was not the "cold" start, but the "warm" one..

I waited an hour, tried it again with the radio OFF,

and the phone is back to normal "non-assisted" GPS behaviour -
locks within a few (2-3 this time) minutes...

here we are...

i was having the same issues. i had my Weather Panel set to establish connection if needed. and my GPStoday set to establish data connection, i unchecked both of those things, and now my GPS is back to locking :)

:) it is sort of "bicycle invention" I guess,
but I feel comfortable
when I understand the functioning of the gadgets I have
up to some satisfactory detail..

besides, it turns out,
that verizon and bell users are lucky for the fact that their AGPS does not use data channel, and thus does not interfere with data connection?

it might interfere, though, in some circumstances,
I've read somewhere around
that if you`r in 1x mode, you cannot use data and voice at the same time... and therefore AGPS and internet wont function together,

Hey... just decided to do one more test. This morning before I attempted to use GPS I set my email to retrieve in 5 minutes. So after resetting the phone and booting up the phone did not acquire a auto data connection. So i waited 5 minutes to have the phone connect and receive my email. It did and I had no mail. So then I launched GPS viewer and again... I noticed that my data arrows where not blinking and I waited 4 minutes and still no data activity and no gps lock. So I stopped gps viewer and hit my END butoon and that is set to terminate data connection when help for 3 seconds. SO my data gets terminated and then I launch gpsviewer and within 8 seconds my phone automatically got a data connection and saw the arrows blink and "poof" I had a gps lock. Again..... it looks like there is a conflict with a auto data connection. very strange. My friend has a Mogul and his a-gps is flawless with the last official rom Sprint gave out. He gets a lock all the time within 10 seconds with Pushmail activated.

Interesting find, that seemed to do the trick for me. I use push email w/ Exchange and the only time I could get a GPS lock was after a soft reset. I terminated the data connection and started up Garmin w/o a soft reset and I got locks within 10-15 seconds :) Thanks!

looks really like a bug (definitely not "behavior by design") in your Sprint
version, guys...

I agree, its not normal. There Must be a patch for this. Anyone care to start a thread over at htc site if there is such a thing. Maybe link it over to this thread.
